My publisher gave me the news last night that Food Chain is going to the printer today!

1. So this is the follow up to the pst last week wherein the publishing

I'm feeling very nervous and hopeful at the same time. A lot of time, life, study--everything went into this book. The stories were written over a span of at least ten years. Other stories were written well before then and since.

7. This is a small and very independent press--

the best kind! Any touring I do will be in my Jeep!

But I might drive around. I know that I will be in St. Louis, and I might visit L.A.

With these small, independent presses, you get more bucks per book, but the situation is a far cry from the NY publishers as far as promotion goes. The upside is that the small presses put so much quality and love into the production of the book--you would not belive it.

I might be participating in a short story conference in (very ironically) MADRID. I've been involved in this conference before--it's one that concentrates on the short story on an international level. It's wonderful! Critics and writers from all over the world get together and consider the short story!

I'm so excited. It's as if I'm about to finally to pour my heart and the hearts of others out to so many people! It's being printed NOW!
