TERRORISTS ENDORSE BUSH (no, really)

We'll take the backhanded "compliment", too. :eyes: Thanks, guys.

CAIRO (Reuters) - A group claiming to have links with al Qaeda said on Wednesday it was calling a truce in its Spanish operations to see if the new Madrid government would withdraw its troops from Iraq, a pan-Arab newspaper said.

In a statement sent to the Arabic language daily al-Hayat, the Abu Hafs al-Masri Brigades, which claimed responsibility for the Madrid bombings that killed 201 people, also urged its European units to stop all operations...

The statement said it supported President Bush in his reelection campaign, and would prefer him to win in November rather than the Democratic candidate John Kerry, as it was not possible to find a leader "more foolish than you (Bush), who deals with matters by force rather than with wisdom."

In comments addressed to Bush, the group said:

"Kerry will kill our nation while it sleeps because he and the Democrats have the cunning to embellish blasphemy and present it to the Arab and Muslim nation as civilization."

"Because of this we desire you (Bush) to be elected."

4. im a democrat and i just dont see that
Whoever wrote this letter obviously wants at the very least to elect socialists to office. Socialism has proven itlelf throuought history to not accomplish anything. Electing a socialist in this country would never do us any good no matter what Kim Jong Il says. I know communism or socialism sounds good on paper but it just doesn't work.

Yeah but like John Kerry is gonna raise taxes a lot...on a bunch of rich people.
Yeah but the terrorists want Bush*!

Why are the Republicans supporting the candidate that the terrorists want?

14. Right. This is why those "socialist" countries have better medical care
superior social services, better employment, far superior educational systems...all for less money than we pay in taxes. Woo Hoo!!!

13. I think this is unlikely.

Really: aQ (or whoever) suddenly becomes interested in the Spanish election after the * spin-machine tries to make the attack in Spain a comment on the Spanish elections? Probably somebody's idea of joke.

Quoting it certainly won't convince anybody, and to quote it means: (1) buying into the alleged election-terror connection, and (2) ignoring the suffering in Spain.

*'s cheerleaders are pushing the election-terror script because they have worked out a playbook: no attack in US ("* kept us safe"); attack ("gotta stay the course"). It's rather blatant: heard DBrooks on NPR this afternoon talking about a terrorist attack "in the next eight months."

No reason to play this game. Does anybody really think 9/11 was an attempt to sway off-year elections across the US?

20. I think this letter is bullshit.
I wouldn't be surprised if they're hoping Kerry nibbles on it, and then they'll jerk the line and expose it as a fake.

It's unrealistic. It's cheesy. It underestimates the intelligence of the American public.

In other words, it smells like Rove.
