You will note that although Anne Coulter claims to be a Constitutional scholar, the Neocons are not willing to place her in any position that could do them harm. I'm not concerned with her "sex/appearance." She should be judged soley on the content of her lack of character. Yet, it is true that she has traits of a severe personality disorder that occures almost exclusively in women. It is also true that the republican response to her nonsense is in large part due to her appearance. If she had short hair, for example, she would not get the same response from the "good old boys." Still, if we examine her ideas and rants alone, we can discredit her in a far more effective manner than if we, too, debate if she is or is not attractive.

Oh gimme a break! Women are that part of the population that really turn our cranks and always agree with us! Right. Have any of you ever actually met a woman? They tend to be a lot like guys - some are attractive, some are not, some agree totally with what we think and some totally disagree.

I think this "she's ugly, she's a man" trope is cheap and nasty. She's not ugly. She's quite attractive - thin, blonde. Not my preference but seemingly the general consensus of what is attractive. This plays in her favour. If she looked like Bella Abzug do you really think they'd take her seriously? The "man" argument - well she's forthright, loud and obnoxious (and evil). This says not very good things about how we view women and even worse things about how we view men. We need to drop it to take the moral high ground.

Let's argue on the content of her character. She doesn't have much and on that we come out ahead.

There is some support for the idea that anti-social personality disorder is the "male" version of borderline p.d.; this, of course, could add fuel to those who question Ann C's gender. However, I am serious about her often vicious attacks and calls to violence. In my humble opinion, this is distinct from paranoia: rather, it is a focused attack on vulnerable targets. I consider it a more dangerous set of behaviors. I could be mistaken. Maybe Ann C. is against violence, but I have an uneasy feeling that she would delight in the suffering of people she feels are different and hence of less value than her. I view her ilk as Axis One morally corrupt, Axis Two ASPD.

Yes, she is mentally disturbed. I think she is trying to please daddy though. I can't imagine what kind of a cold unfeeling household she must have been raised in but her anorexia for one speaks volumes about her self-esteem.
