Subj: Mrs. Ashcroft and Patrick Henry college

The NY Times reported last week that a college specializing in taking students that were home-schooled, Patrick Henry College, had more than a half dozen interns at the White House this year. That is an unusually high # for any school.

So I went to the webpage for Patrick Henry College. I found that John Ashcroft's wife was on the board. So was Russ Pulliam (Indpls. Star and Arizona Republic) who is also a cousin to Dan Quayle.

I checked out the Beliefs section. They believe in "traditional marriage defined as a marriage between a man and a woman with the Husband the master of the marriage. Let's see how they try to slip that one into a Constitutional Amendment.

The more disturbing belief is that they believe if the country is going in the wrong direction, they have the right to overthrow the government. Obviously, they get to define the right direction.

I remember taking a Loyalty Oath to get my National Defense Student Loans. This preaching is beyond any form of patriotism. It really borders on sedition.

Hopefully, you can expose these views on your website.

2. these people give me the creeps

I cringe whenever I see Lynne's books in the bookstore... the books themselves aren't as scary as the motivation that is behind them and the co-opting of certain vaules and history as "conservative." Like Bennett and his "Book of Virtues."

Plus Patrick Henry, I suspect, would be horrified by what is done and espoused in his name. Most of the founders despised and were frightened by even the whiff of fascism and that information seems to be lost in the shuffle.

The PHC website is really worth a peek. These people have a rigid theological view.

It looks like we're headed back into the Dark Ages, with political fights couched in terms of heresy and blasphemy. Well, OK. I find their rigid religious views, which leave no room for individual revelation or personal freedom of conscience, their unquestioning authoritarian view, and their hostility towards free thought heretical and blasphemous.

I just read it recently (I don't remember where) but they are being trained for government placement. An unusually high number get White House internships.
