Just heard a soldier on ATC
say that he would not be voting for Bush (from the Bush rally today) because of the WMD lie. He gave his name and rank, but I didn't catch it.

He said, "It was nice of him to visit though."

1. I don't know if anyone else heard this
I heard Bush was booed at Ft. Campbell today.

Any confirmation?

2. I doubt it
I keep hearing how soldiers are too 'professional' to do that. I call it brainwashed.

8. Big argument on yahoo boards about this
Some people claiming to have been there and heard the boos.

I watched the video -- it was hard to tell. The applause was definitely lukewarm, and the vocalizations had a weird, mid-range tone, but I couldn't tell if they were booing.

The person reporting it said the "offending parties" were escorted out immediately, as one might imagine.

11. I don't think it was booing
it was that dumb 'hooo-ah' hooting noise that paratroopers like to make.

9. that's a little rough
Lot of men and women doing a tough job, wouldn't call them brainwashed. Of any Americans, soldiers and their families have suffered the most. My bro-in-law, is probably going to his third deployment in 2 1/2 years. Say what you want about the policy makers but these guys are top shelf.

Most of them are young guys who need to "get pumped" to survive. It's a morale thing.

7. I heard it too but can't remember the soldier's name
Edited on Thu Mar-18-04 06:07 PM by sonias
I think he was from Alabama though. He gave his name and rank, no hiding. He just said plain and simple the war was for politics. No WMDs so there was no point. Good for him, smart soldier. Hope his time in the service is almost over. Hate to see him get any retaliation for speaking up.
