Why Osama capture won't matter
Just heard that Osama and his number two guy are no more than symbolic leaders of Al Qaeda, which means that if they are captured, the real active members will only hate US even more, and vow to escalate violence against US in retaliation. Guess Osama isn't as powerful as his underlings, yet he represents a sort of messianic symbol to them. Imagine how angry Christians would be if Jesus were cornered and killed today...this is what we will be dealing with. Yes, we must capture Osama and his advisors, but it is a no-win situation because it will only inflame the rage of Al Qaeda against US even further.

SOrt of damned if we do, damned if we don't. IF ONLY WE COULD FIGURE OUT HOW TO MAKE THE REST OF THE WORLD HATE US A LITTLE LESS...Gee, shouldn't this be what Bush is focusing on?

1. The best way to make the world hate us less - elect Kerry
I bet you see celebrations around the world when Bush is beat.

2. I agree. I just wonder what else the Bush machine has up their
sleeves to unleash on the scared stupid masses before election day. Makes you kinda squirm just thinking about what they may be capable of.

3. I hope he is found now not later.
I do believe the capture or death of Osama will make a difference.....for a short time, the same as the capture of Sadam gave * a boost for a few days. The more time between his capture and Nov. the better. Everyone will see it won't stop the attacks and perhaps will escalate them.

It would be much better to happen now than in October!

5. Don't capture him, just kill him...NOW...
My reasons for a kill and not a capture...
1: If you capture him, Bush will be able to dangle him out now and then to remind everyone.
2: I think many more people would die at the hands of terrorist, first by taking hostages and killing them off when we refuse to release him. Then the retaliation attacks when he's found guilty and sentenced to die. The continuing of hostage taking and killing while he sits on death row for a few(?) years going through appeals.
And THEN, the massive attacks that will happen worldwide when the sentence is carried out.

6. What will the RW'ers say if we are attacked after the Osama capture?
I think most Americans think the capture of Osama will mean the end of terrorism. While I think it is important to capture him, I think it will escalate the terrorist attacks because, like you mentioned, people will see their figurehead as martyred (if he's dead) or in the hands of the infidels (if he's captured). And then another figurehead will pop up to lead the crazed jihaders to more suicide attacks.

What will people say if more attacks happen after the capture? I can only hope and pray that they don't. :(

7. Does not matter...
...Saudi Arabia is where the terrorists are from, and the Saudis are business partners with the Bushes.
