Zapatero rejects Kerry call on Iraq troops

“My commitment is my commitment,” Zapatero said in a television interview.

“Maybe John Kerry does not know – but I am happy to explain it to him – that my commitment to withdraw the troops goes back before the tragic, dramatic terrorist attack,” Zapatero said.

2. I Had a Problem
with Kerry calling on him to keep his troops in Iraq because it places Kerry in a very bad position. Now that Zapatero has rejected the call, now what does Kerry do? He's not in a position to change Zapatero's mind, and I can see Smirk using this against him.

"John Kerry tried to call on Zapatero to keep his troops in but Zapatero rebuffed him. This is the kind of leadership you'll get from Kerry"...blah blah blah....or something to that effect.

Kerry should have stayed quiet on this since he can't do a damned thing about it (yet).

And secondly, how long does Kerry want to keep our troops over there? I don't know his position on this other than he supports keeping our troops there. I'm not comfortable with his stand at all on this.

4. a problem?
Why is Kerry publicly advising a foreign leader on policy in their country?
That's the thing I don't get.
Smirk won't use it against him because Smirk does the same thing.
So why is Kerry doing it?

5. That's what he should say
Edited on Fri Mar-19-04 10:12 AM by JCCyC
"Well, it's unfortunate but he's the head of state of a sovereign country and there's nothing else I or President Bush can do. Furthermore, I ask President Bush not to engage in any kind of retaliatory behavior towards Spain, which is still an ally."

Edit: grammar

6. Shumacher and Zapatero both mean shoemaker
And both have a long-term association with the color red.

And both managed stunning wins on Sundays.
