1. It was a PR stunt...

Ever wonder why Aaron Brown just happened to be over there? Hmm...

There was a "news" report that said he made an escape in a bulletproof SUV! LOL! You have to be braindead to fall for this shit anymore.

4. This came accross from "DEBKA"
DEBKAfile Reports Exclusively: Pakistan red-faced on discovering “high value” terrorist target its troops surrounded in Waziristan was not bin Laden’s No. 2 Zuwahiri but chief of Pushtun Ahmadi tribal federation. DEBKA sources estimate that any harm to Pushtun chief would spark wholesale tribal war offensive against Pakistan

6. The sad thing is....
...about 40% of the American public probably believes they captured him yesterday and have moved on to the next news cycle.

14. Ain't this the GD truth...
If you would have taken a long position in market on Thursday at noon (when the BS story broke), then sold today around 2:00 (when the BS was called), you would have made a killing.

Something tells me someone is fucking with us hard. Sorry, just in bad mood, because I lost a few bucks when my tech indicators where all washed out by this BS. Just ranting...ignore me.

10. What the hell is going on?
All the news broadcasts I'm watching on the tube are still reporting that he's surrounded. Conversely, I read on LBN that Al-Zawahiri escaped the net.

13. PR stunt by Musharraf?
On Hardball last night, there was this guy being interviewed (I think a Mid-Easterner who works for the US). Anyhow, Chris was asking him about al-Zawahiri and he implied that Musharraf was basically putting on a show for Colin Powell. He said that he will believe it when he sees al-Zawahiri captured.

Guess he was right!

16. that sucks
Politics aside, I was hoping they would catch him. His an extremely dangerous man.

you know what's scarier? Weren't the threads yesterday full of people saying that the administration and faux news was playing this down and two steps shy of refuting it completely?

17. where are those bunker-busters we pay so much money for?
Why isn't Bush dropping one of his giant bombs on this location, bringing them justice? That is, after all, IF they have who they say they have...

20. From what I've read in a number of places
The only 'evidence' I have heard of at all is that the tribal fighters are fighting back 'ferociously'. They are saying that this leads them to believe that someone important was there. They said, surprisingly conclusively, yesterday that it wasn't bin Laden, so I think they came up with al-Zawahiri just through the process of elimination.

The area where the Pakistanis have closed off is 19 square miles. It's several villages, and many have fled the fighting as refugees.

If you ask me, it's more likely the start of a civil war in Pakistan (or a war between 'Pashtustan' and Pakistan).

Here, Pravda predicted it all back in 11/2001:

Hans Kaitert: North Alliance's victory is Pakistan's nightmare
