Oh wow! What will America be like in 2050?
Star Tribune, my local REPUKE newspaper, had this to say about what America will be like in 2050:

http://www.startribune.com/stories/1507/4670748.html

(these are the same people who, on the coverpage 2 days ago, licked Pawlenty's ass by devoting the page to his announcement of TWO stadiums, complete with responses from ONLY people who are for this bullplop.)

Excerpt of this lovely article?

The fact that there are as many Hispanic immigrants as there are in places such as Chaska might well be a sign that immigrants are assimilating. They are less and less inclined to locate in immigrant enclaves such as the old West Side of St. Paul.

(snip)

Sounds like assimilation. Are Mexicans becoming American, or is America becoming Mexico?

On the actual newspaper itself, they have a chart showing how Whitey's numbers are diminishing...

Gee, you think that PEAK OIL and it's aftermath would be a little more f&^%ing important! :grr:  :grr:  :grr:  :grr:  (there are lots of other articles too, made even in 1999 when the cost of crude was 50% LESS, that show we are at peak oil now... or just about to drop off...)

1. Peak oil will BE important....
whether people awknowledge it or not.
I know that several DUers have already reacted to the peak oil
theories as totally "bogus", yet they have NO EVIDENCE to support
their statements. Yeah...peak oil is pure scare tactics... :eyes:

7. Well, they almost have a point...
I'm not sure how scientists can perfectly calculate how much oil is left. But given that oil remains free flowing only to a certain point, after which it requires artificial measures to extract the stuff... Somehow, I doubt that these measures are going to be anywhere near free.

I feel sorry for the DUers who are acting as if there is no problem.

I will also feel sorry for the liberal movement. When demand overraches supply, it will be impossible for us to rationally care for life. Humanity, as we know it, will not be sustainable. I think the wealthy already know this, hence the outsourcing and other methods to make themselves rich and the rest of us poor or dying. That way, when the economy collapses and a load of bread costs $200, they can afford it. They live, at the expense of us. Cozy thought, huh? :-(

11. Well...
I don't live in Alaska, so I couldn't really tell you. But scientists know oceans will rise considerably so if the original poster lived on the coast then he or she will have prime geo-ducking real estate in a few decades.

13. Blade Runner rules, but

My favorite vision of the future is. Heavy Weather, by Bruce Sterling. Not to say it's the future I'm hoping for, but it's gestalt seems most accurate to me. If a gestalt can be accurate.
