Genius CNN quote about Powell's leaving as Secy. of State
According to CNN's talking head, Powell will not accept the post "even if Bush wins a second term." Let's parse that. Does that mean he wasn't planning on serving if, say, Dean was elected? Phew. I'm glad he made that clear! These moring anchors are like Bush; they'll read Jaberwocky earnestly, so long as it's on the teleprompter.

(P.S. Anyone remember seeing a particularly gruesome SNL skit with Will Farrell and guest David Allen Grier, where they play morning show hosts who revert to Lord-of-the-Flies violence after their teleprompter goes on the fritz? I recall Ferrell covered in blood, holding Grier's severed head aloft. Funny, indeed.)

1. Ask him that beforehand. Hurt Bush's election chances.
If Powell doesn't say he'll stay on, make it a campaign issue.

3. I'm sure Lieberman would like to keep Powell.....
Since he pretty much endorses everything Bush does except having an (R) by his name.

4. Speaking of quotes......... This morning on c-span
'Smart bombs and dumb people saying where to fire them'. I just loved it, and it needs to be on a bumper sticker or maybe it is where it came from.

5. We laughed at that, too. It was a welcome comment after several

calls from people who want to go to war against North Korea ASAP.

6. just saw it as headline crawler on ABC
I thought the same thing about how it is phrased - "even if Bush wins a second term". As opposed to "if Bush is appointed to a second term . . ."?
