Is it Just Me???
Edited on Mon Mar-22-04 02:59 AM by rpannier
I was responding to posts on Iraq and Afghanistan and something came to me that I don't see much on TV (please remember, I live in Korea so I get limited American TV). After 9/11 most of the world, including countries like Iran, Libya and others, rushed to our support.
When we pushed the Taliban out, the majority of the country cheered us. (I know this because I have a brother who was in Kabul and other areas after the "war"0
When Sadaam went...the Iraqi populace cheered us. One man even kissed a picture of President Bush.
Now, we have almost no friends in the world. The Afghani people are in an almost worse situation than before.
In Iraq, our soldiers are fodder for any disgruntled person with a few sticks of TNT.
How is it possible that 'w' can go 0/3 and no one think this is a serious problem? Or discuss it at least...Is it Just me, or am I right?

1. Oh you're right
In any other nation in the world (besides the US that is) Bush is about as popular as Ebola. Here however, the airwaves are SATURATED with pro-Bush propaganda. Nationistic, flag-waving, The US can do no wrong, propaganda. The news is not news, it's infotainment and much of it consists of admiring Bush while mocking Democrats.

Bush is losing popularity here in spite of it all. He is beatable, though most of us feel that we must beat him with a landslide or his team will steal it. Even so, it's doable. Keep up the faith.

2. It's not just you.
This is the worst president we've ever had. Something is terribly wrong. I've been arguing about this in my local newspaper. Three people actually wrote in and said Carter, Clinton were the worst presidents and Kerry will be another one if elected. I told them Bush was and if they would stop looking at mainstream media television and look elsewhere they would realize that the world now hates Bush more than any other president shown by the worldwide protests March 20th. I just think alot of Repubs want their side to be so right no matter what the cost. They just don't see it. I don't understand.

3. I remember...
when Clinton took trips around the world...many people came out in droves to meet him...BushCo goes somewhere he is protested...just look at the anti-war protests that went on around the world...just goes to show that he is not well liked...

Because of BushCo's arrogance he has brought scorn on this country and no one wants to allign themselves with the US anymore...the one's that do are doing so because they want handouts courtesy of the American Taxpayers...

BushCo has to go...and I believe he will...if he gets re-elected I might just call my relatives in Vancouver and ask them if they have a room for rent...

4. Way off topic, just curious, where in Korea are you
Edited on Mon Mar-22-04 03:41 AM by Pete Puma
I know the country well, having lived there too. Are you there on business? Just curious.

Is "Star TV" out of Hong Kong still the only network of choice? Ha! Otherwise, Those Korean game shows and soap operas will drive you crazy!

Thanks

Edit-Sorry, I meant to reply to original post.

5. It's not just you
It's The Emporer's New Clothes all over again.

More and more people see him for the fraud he is - - or have seen him that way from the beginning - - but somehow our national identity is all caught up in "supporting our President".

It's bizarre.

6. I believe they are doing it on purpose.
Remember - not one single person who is involved with PNAC will have a son or daughter in any of the wars they have created. That said, I think they (Bush/Cheney) WANT endless wars around the globe so that they can sell arms/security/service to any and all people who can cough of the money.

Endless war means endless profit.

7. I rather agree with your assessment Rex...
I could be way off base, but it occured to me the other day that just maybe these neocons WANT all this mess around the world. You call it for profit, yes, but remember these guys are also driven by some very radical religious ideals too.

The profit plus the religious right is a marriage made in hell and that confluence could very well doom us all. They will have MIHOP...the end of life as we know it.

They are sick, very very sick :scared:

8. ditto that
There aren't just "sick" they are CRIMINALS. The problem is, their corruption has so pervaded our society that the institutions that are meant to guard us from such tyrany have been comprimised and failed us completely.

10. Yes, they sure have....what is left...what shall we call it....the
safeguarding institutions, I mean. The constitution is now just a piece of paper I guess. What a scandal, what a profound shame. :(
