Scotty sweating even as we speak. 9/11 families hammering the misadministration. Condi spinning like a wheel all morning.

The noose is tightening.

1. Keep up the pressure
Hammer your local media.

Hammer your Representatives and Senators.

It is absolutely unpatriotic to let this story die.

2. I was thinking Watergate again today...
Wishful thinking? Perhaps. But the denials, denials, denials, then new damaging assertions, then more denials, denials, denials, then new damaging assertions... Deja vu all over again.

3. I must say that the media are being relentless on this one
I have to give them credit. The questions in the briefing are coming fast and furious.

5. Not wishful thinking at all.
There's a snowball rolling down that mountain of lies.

7. They are so on the defensive, so obviously lying.
It would be amusing if it weren't so frightening. And someone else pointed out that these wild animals are cornered - this could be very dangerous.

6. This balances out the $110 million in Bush campaign ads
in the "free" media, no less.

It may actually overwhelm the Bush ads, making them appear as the hollow lies they are.

8. Yes, it sure does
I'm 57 and remember it vividly. Lies heaped on lies. Discredit the messengers. But it seems like it's happening so much faster. Just last night, Peter Werbe was recalling how he thought it would take 10 years for all the lies to be revealed. But now, it's happening by the week. I guess it's partly the net given how the press is in the administration's back pocket. And we have our own journalist heroes.

Wanted to say one more thing. Seeing the pictures from all the demonstrations, it feels like there's a strong bridge between my generation and the younger gen. Noone can say we don't or can't understand each other. This is like deja vu and it warms my heart. Young people on the left are among the best and brightest, IMO.

9. This is great...

Living in Indiana, you don't come across many Democrats; however my lunch conversation was unbelievably refreshing...a couple of moderates and one stated Republican all think that they've been lied to and are rethinking the events of the last 2-3 years.

Small group of people, yes, but it makes me hopeful that the tide is turning.

11. Yes, they are on the defensive and only Lieberman and Biden are
talking and they are the very poorest spokespeople we have besides Zell Miller. What the heck is wrong with Biden...it is almost like he is a candidate for blackmail of some kind. I am furious with him once again.

And where are all the other Dems...I guess they'll leave it to the Black Caucus in the House to speak out....once again.

They need a stadium full of Kucinichs.

Where is Jimmy Carter oand Jackson on Haiti?

Where are our leaders.

Where are the Clintons?

The storyon Clarke has to be straightened out with the public right now - this is a critical day.

And as Will Pitt said yesterday - Kerry is skiing. He deserves a rest, but no one is speaking for him. caveat - I didn't hear Kennedy yesterday.

Disgusted in the heartland. Or am I just premature?

12. If the press is as tenacious with this as they were during Watergate...
Edited on Mon Mar-22-04 02:29 PM by terrya
I hope there are some Woodward and Bernstein's out there who will follow this story and won't let go.

My fear is that this will be gone in a few days.
