4. standing his ground, and confronting the WH lies
Edited on Mon Mar-22-04 06:34 PM by CatWoman
not political -- will not work for Kerry if he is elected, as he is retired.

the book should have come out three months ago, but was delayed. Didn't catch why, but he mentioned the WH had something to do with it.

Dan Bartlett up now.

5. ?Thank you, dahlin!
I can hardly wait to see it later. And also on Charlie Rose tonight. that should be a nice, quiet interview. I sure hope the PBS pledge drive doesn't interfere. Hope it's over and done with.

clarke said the book would have been out 3 months ago but the white house had to clear it. that's a paraphrase but pretty close to a quote from him.

9. That was bullshit.
That Suarez guy is a two bit whore. He let that POS Bartlet go on and on without saying anything relevant. Then he let him off the hook without asking any questions. Fuck him and all the so called liberal media. They make me sick. I hope they got him a nice pair of pumps to go with his ho outfit.

10. poor ray....he found out on which side his bread is buttered
he used to be OK on Talk of the Nation, but he knows better than to question the powers that be

I used to email back and forth with him, but it petered out when I got too critical of his "objectivity"

11. I know, he just let him go on and on and on. BUT
I wonder, the more they talk, the deeper they dig themselves in?

Bartlet said something odd, Berger said he never gave them their plan. Which begs the question, did one of Berger's staff or associates? Of course this wasn't asked.

HOwever, the testimony which counts will be this week in front of the 9/11 commission, under oath.

So far, Rice(Hadley, Bush, Cheney) won't testify under oath. So after Clarke gives his testimony under oath the onus is on the WH to prove him wrong, after all they could get him for perjury.

So while the media is irritating me, I can see how this might be okay for us. It reminds me of what I've heard police officers like to do, let a person talk. Talk themselves in to a hole.

Granted, Kerry and the rest of the dems HAVE to expose the lies, the media isn't going to do it for them. However, they might just be giving them some good fodder to work with.

12. no plan??????
can you expound on that?

theres' a TIME article here with that very title: They had a PLAN!

here's another long article that delineates the plan

http://216.239.51.104/search?q=cache:koVFO8AKuPQJ:www.afgha.com/%3Faf%3Darticle%26sid%3D11569++condi+rice+sandy+berger++meeting+december+2000&hl=en&start=16&ie=UTF-8

Clarke asked Rice to let him begin an interagency review. As it began, he recommended five immediate steps.

Massoud's Northern Alliance fighters, in danger of defeat by the Taliban, needed enough aid "to keep them alive until we figured out what our overall strategy would be," as a new Bush appointee put it. In neighboring Uzbekistan, President Islam Karimov needed more help for an American-trained battalion he sent against fundamentalist rebels allied with al Qaeda. Treasury had to get moving on a terrorist assets tracking center, months overdue. The CIA's Counterterrorism Center could buy a lot more cooperation from foreign intelligence services if it had more cash – the center's whole budget, sources said, did not exceed $50 million. And the Voice of America had to start answering bin Laden – in local languages – to counter his appeal in the Islamic world.

Not much came of Clarke's immediate requests. It would be months before the new team's appointees arrived in force. But Rice and Hadley liked his zeal. The inherited strategy of battling al Qaeda cell by cell, they believed, could not work.

no PLAN?

did they specify Berger?

let me check the article

15. Bartlet said last year
Berger was asked (I am assuming at the congressional inquiry, but this wasn't made clear) if he gave a plan to the Bush admin, Berger said no.

I took it with a huge grain of salt, I am betting Bartlet was being literal. Meaning, somebody assoicated with Berger's staff probably DID give it to them, but not Berger himself.

I thought he was muddying the water.

16. Yep. After Clarke testifies under oath he can
put it back on the WH. "I testified under oath, if you think I committed perjury, prove it. Testify under oath and come get me, MotherF***ers.

(bleeped for the FCC sensitive amongst us. ;-))

going around and around in circles saying absolutely nothing. Bartlet looked like the whore and shill he is, not Suarez.

Lighten up!!

Edited on Mon Mar-22-04 07:33 PM by krkaufman
Margaret Warner just parrots Condosleeza's smear that Clarke "didn't have a plan."

Time Magazine reported on all this crap nearly TWO YEARS AGO...!!

Fortunately Clarke replied, plainly and simply, with the info that PBS/News Hour/Margaret Warner could have gleaned from the Time article.

Its too bad they didn't have Clarke on head to head with the White House shill. But, I'm sure the White House doen't have the guts to go face to face with him.
