It's at no. 5 at Amazon, I expect it to go to no. 1. I also expect it to go to the top of the New York Times Bestsellers List.

Does anyone know if Clarke has a book tour to go along with publication of this book?

1. "The White House has a deep sense of betrayal" over Clarke!
How many times have I heard that sentiment today on TV?.....Why should it be more important that Clarke loyally shield Bush than that he tell the American people the truth about what Bush did?.....Sorry, but that's not even debatable, as far as I'm concerned!

2. I got it at B&N today
Edited on Mon Mar-22-04 06:50 PM by rmpalmer
And they had the biggest stack of this book well at least since Harry Potter mania. I was impressed. Displayed right out front.

I'm reading it now. Posted a couple of snippets here in GD. Look for my name as original poster.

I think Amazon hasn't updated their numbers-stuck at 5 since yesterday. It's #1 on B&N's website.

3. Just called my local BnN
They got it in stock and I think I'll go pick up a copy. I'll be paying in cash, of course (I know, I'm paranoid).

12. Are you using your discount card from B&N?
If so then unless B&N destroys the data there will be a record.

6. Want to hear something sick
I have the darn book on order for months now from Amazon, but just couldn't wait so I hit the B&N today. I'm going to sell the extra copy, probably for a $1 or $2 cheaper than Amazon when it comes in.

7. Bought it...
quoted points from the dust jacket earlier because there was good information there to use for rebuttals and it provides a mini-bio of Clarke as regards his titles.

I started it under Higher Class - starts out Clarke's book....

8. The Clarke comments on 60 minutes from his book made clear ...
...what has been obvious to many of us at DU and that is that Bush and his closest advisers at the White House and in the Pentagon should be removed from power as soon as possible. Impeach the president and vice president, jail the top advisers and remove a number of military high ranking staff from positions of authority. If we wait till next January it may be too late for the country.

11. Yes, I bought it at Borders
Just getting into it.

Clarke was in the SES. That means he was not a poltiical appointee, but sort of a "super manager", in the Civil Service. The SES is the Senior Executive Service.

14. Got it Saturday
but was on a two day road trip and haven't quite finished it.

A most excellent read. Trashes Bush and rehabilitates Clinton.

Read page 75, I was going to type the whole thing, about the memorial for the Pan Am victims. It will break your heart. If I have the time, I'll type it in tonight for those of you who don't have it yet. (I think it's page 75, don't have my book with me, read it outloud to my DH in the car and almost made us both cry for our country.)
