CLAIM #2: "The president returned to the White House and called me in and said, I've learned from George Tenet that there is no evidence of a link between Saddam Hussein and 9/11." - National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice, 3/22/04
FACT: If this is true, then why did the President and Vice President repeatedly claim Saddam Hussein was directly connected to 9/11? President Bush sent a letter to Congress on 3/19/03 saying that the Iraq war was permitted specifically under legislation that authorized force against "nations, organizations, or persons who planned, authorized, committed, or aided the terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11." Similarly, Vice President Cheney said on 9/14/03 that "It is not surprising that people make that connection" between Iraq and the 9/11 attacks, and said "we don't know" if there is a connection.

Googled for this, and got only ONE hit! This one:
(this was shown on some news station yesterday)
http://www.onlisareinsradar.com/archives/000576.phpPresident Bush (when asked to compare Al Queda and Saddam Hussein):
"And so uh, uh, a comparison that uh, uh, is uh, well I can't make because I can't distinguish between the two, because they're both equally as bad, and equally as evil, and equally as destructive."
Sure you can take out the first part of the sentence out and he won't look quite so blatantly stupid, but that still won't change the fact that the second part of the sentence doesn't make any sense.
"I can't distinguish between the two, because they're both equally as bad, and equally as evil, and equally as destructive."
In a separate statement that came either before or after the one above (but during the same interview), he also said plainly:
"You can't distinguish between Al Queda and Saddam when you talk about the War On Terror."To which Jon Stewart replied during his Daily Show report:
"You can't? You know what? I'm gonna try. Al Queda is an ideologically-driven underground ultra-Islamic terrorist network and Saddam Hussein is the dictator of a secular middle eastern nation that seeks mild regional dominance. I did it! They said it couldn't be done!" (Enter confetti and horn blower noises.) "I did it! I've done it!"

That doesn't jibe with condi's asssertion today.
And why, when searching for - bush "can't distinguish between al queda" - do I only get one hit. It was an interview that made the Daily Show, and was shown last night as well. Why only one hit?
