White Mans Burden/the sorry state of foreign policy
We forget that other cultures have millenia behind them when it comes to political cunning - we are little children compared to them. The chinese are a good example. They know that our stance on human rights is bs, a PR show, and we would never cut ties with them. Too much money being traded; too many cheap goods being sold at high profits.
Arabs have long memories - the crusades (another pr failure) were nothing more than an excuse to loot and plunder and the so called christians left a swath of death and destruction behind them. The crusades (contrary to our so called history being taught here) are portrayed in their reality and students go out in the world knowing exactly what type of hypocrites we are. Besides, contrary to us their convictions are so strong they are willing to blow themselves up (not something i condone you understand - its simply reality).
And let us not forget that magnificent phrase "White Man's Burden". That has not been forgotten either.
