11. Such bile. Rumsfeld is using the Administration meme.
Edited on Tue Mar-23-04 03:41 PM by The Backlash Cometh
Before 9/11 it never occurred to them that airplanes would be used to fly into the trade center. And before that, he used emotive, graphic description of the attack, as if we need a reminder.

42. his exact words were
that they had no evidence that they were going to hijack civil airplanes and fly them into the pentagon and the wtc. That leaves a lot open, they could have known they were going to hijack airplanes and fly them into buildings but didn't know which..

http://www.disinfopedia.org/wiki.phtml?title=Thomas_H._Kean
"Now, 'by sheer coincidence', former New
Jersey governor Thomas Kean, the man
chosen by President Bush to lead the 9/11
commission also has business ties with bin
Mahfouz and Al-Amoudi.

"Thomas Kean is a director (and
shareholder) of Amerada Hess
Corporation , which is involved in the
Hess-Delta joint venture with Delta Oil of
Saudi Arabia (owned by the bin Mahfouz
and Al-Amoudi clans)."
Wanna have some fun, run the commission names
thru the disinfopedia.org engine...such a crock this "investigation."

had happened in NYC. He continued and left to a second meeting in the Pentagon and the explosion hit the Pentagon.

If there's a huge explosion, I would think that he would have been on the Red phone calling to find out information. Was his meeting that important when our country was being attacked?

87. I think it's becoming clear that we didn't have enough information to
justify a pre-9/11 military action, i.e. war with Afghanistan. We didn't even know that the Taliban and bin Laden were so interlinked until early in the Bush Administration. And even if we did go to war, we would have the same success we see today -- result: no bin Laden. Therefore, our only option was selective military cruise missile attacks when human intelligence gave us information on bin Laden's whereabouts.

Where Bush failed was that he did not respond to the chatter in the same pro-active way that the Clinton Administration did.

And we have yet to learn if the Bush Administration was doing anything else in Afghanistan that would have worked counter-productively to the few bits of counter-terrorist measures we had in place prior to 9/11.

80. Kerrey's not buying the answer either
he says he sees NO evidence that Rice requested a new policy and while he understands it takes time for a new adminstration, it shouldn't take 8 months for a new military policy when you knew for years that terrorism was on-going.

105. I thought I remembered him saying that in a news conference...
Back in 2001/02

What is the big deal about saying that, in and of itself? It's true, after all. Neither Afghanistan nor Al Qaeda had a well developed, "target-rich" infrastructure.

It is only when it is added to the context of "so let's attack Iraq instead, it has plenty of targets," that it becomes ominous.

so rummy et al didn't like the clinton plans when they took office

so according to evidence (kerrey says) there was no new plans in 2001.

8 months of nothing -- as the warnings piled up to the heights of the WTC.

i swear i see blood dripping from rumsfeld's hands.

Okay, then why didn't they replace Clarke? Since he would write the SAME policy again, if they wanted a new point of view why would you ask the same actors the same question?

Isn't the confirmation process because we are still a democracy?

He wants his rummy-junta to just take over?

104. My God. I think you have that right. The Clinton transition team told
them al Qaeda was an imminent threat and the Bush Administration implimented ABC -- Anything But Clinton. It took them seven months to come up with a plan of their own. By then, it was too late.

Which proves to me that if Gore had been president, 9/11 could have been avoided.
