....BUT on the off chance they do...the next step is getting the public to take it seriously. I've heard many people ranting and raving about Clark's interview on 60 Minutes Sunday - but they aren't raving about the content of what he said but rather CBS having ties to the publisher. Somehow in their mind that completely erases all the evidence he presented. I think the public by and large doesn't care what Bush does. Bush gets his marching orders from God and that's alright with them.

When I was confronted with such mental sleight of hand I assumed all of the person's points as valid.

Assume he is in it for the money.
Assume CBS and Viacom are in it for the money.
Assume it is a political witch hunt.

Deny the facts of the allegations. Show where Clarke fabricated anything.

I was met with stony silence.

Don't fall for the misdirection. That is a sure sign that someone has no logical legs to stand on. Concede the point and bury them.

9. Absolutely. Refute him on the evidence or shut up, I say.

They have denied the 'smoking gun' convo in the situation room, but it's their word against his and Clarke apparently has witnesses. Apart from that, it's the same as with Paul O'Neill: trying to shoot the messenger because they know they can't deny the message without opening themselves up to a world of impeachment-class hurt.
