You won't believe this post at Military.com!
This comes from Military.com - and is an attempt to shut down TvNewsLies.org by overwhelming the site with hits. They won't succeed, but I cannot believe that this is the view of democracy that is held dear by our military. Read this and weep. Then maybe sign on there and have your say about this:

Let's shut this guy down http://tvnewslies.org/html/news.html

The link above is to an AntiAmerican, AntiMilitary **********. I was surfing the net and found it while doing a search for PFC Patrick Miller. I never did find out why Miller's name brought up this hit.

The server has been shut down before because of too many hits. If we all hit it at least once a day, they may have to shut it down again.

FYI check out his link from "Do the math" that goes to opinion.telegraph.co.uk about Hating America.

1. Boy, that's a sophisticated DOS attack.
Yeah, let's all hit it at least once a day.

18. Maybe this "attack" is a way to expose their minds.
maybe, just maybe he is trying to expose some minds to thoughts they have kept themselves from having.

If they "attack" it by going there at least once a day, they might get enlightened by reading something. This is a good "attack". Maybe there should be more like this.

"Shut the fuck up.. you're hired thugs. When we need you to go kill little brown people, we'll call you.."

14. easy with the generalizations
There are good and bad in most every group. Smart and stupid. Leasders and followers. Conscience and conscience-less.

And so forth.

I have no doubt that many (perhaps not a majority, but a substantial minority at least) are as uncomfortable as we.

And if you look at guys like HawkerHurricane and x-g.o.p.er (among many others, you will find there is not only a big veterans contingent (including myself) here at DU but an Active-Duty Contingent, as well.

I disagree with you strongly, schultzee. There are many as you describe and there are many that are not.

16. Active duty and Politics...
Military men (I will not speak for military women on this, I don't know enough) tend to be divided into two types: "Termers" and "Careerists". Termers (kids on 1st term) have very little interest in politics, except for the occasional freeper. Careerists tend to be more interested in politics, but if not Republican, very careful about who and what they talk about.

So, when talking to active duty types, what you hear loudest are Freepers and Republicans... because the others are either non political or quiet about thier beliefs...

Now that I'm retired, I don't have to be careful any more... I can speak my peice in places other than anonomous chat rooms...

4. Damn, I hope they try to shut my site down, too.
One hit a day from each of them could really up my ad revenues.

5. I've spent some time over at military.com
Don't get too hung up about that being the standard military viewpoint (not that there IS a "standard" military viewpoint). A lot of the posters there are just wannabes who were too gutless to actually, you know, enlist. So now they want to play "let's pretend." That's the cyberworld for you.

Sometimes I think the place is infested with 12-year-olds. Some of what's there is worthwhile, but a whole lot of it is garbage.

11. I agree
I spent some time there myself. Then I discovered that a vast majority of them are in fact teenagers who just want to act like they are in the military.

9. Update: TVNL answers post
Jesse, editor of TVNL posted a response on military.com. You might want to read it. The deluge of hits has slowed down, but has not ended. But maybe, just maybe, some people will begin to think. Well, maybe not.

10. New update: no letup
Military.com posters are hitting TVNL in droves once again. I thought it would let up, but it was probably the early hour. What a shame... they're trying so hard to shut down this important site for alternative news and views.

15. Selective Prosecution is the hallmark of Totalitarian Regimes like
the Busheviks.

Nothing would happen to them.

Or, should I say the same will happen to them that has happened to other Busheviks who have done much worse, such as the Right-Wing Anthrax Assassin, the Plame Leaker, wheoever murdered Lori Klausutis and Paul Wellstone (different people, undoubtedly), etc.

But make the complaint anyway, in the slim chance that I am wrong.

17. Maybe they will learn something
Who knows the more they visit the site the more they may be tempted to actually read what is on it and maybe actually begin to use some of their grey matter. I know that is not allowed in the military but who knows.
