Interesting dichotomy(re: 9/11com) Where we see good, Freepers see as bad
Edited on Wed Mar-24-04 03:34 PM by a_random_joel
Obviously, up is down over there. And of course they will disagree with us about issues.

But I was just taking a look at their live thread on the 9/11 hearings and I was amazed at the responses. Of course I am cubicle bound, so I will not be able to render my own judgment until this evening.

For example, here at DU, when Clarke told Thompson that he was told to maximize the positive, minimize the negative, and the audience laughed... here it was represented that the audience was laughing at Thompson. On the dark side, they took it as the audience laughing at Clarke.

There are many similar differences which just goes to show that interpretation depends on context and certainly preconceptions or bias are in play.

I just found it kind of interesting and thought I would share it. As I said, I will make my own judgment this evening. Clark, with his opening apology, has already earned a degree of credibility with me and I believe most Americans. I am not doubting him at all, but it is important to observe the Freeper reaction, because it will likely contain clues to future character attacks on Clarke and others.

You may now resume your previously scheduled viewing.

3. Here's the Matrix question...
Of course we think we're right. Of course they think they're right.

In the minds of a reasonable, unbiased, neutral spectator... who's really right?

I don't mean that as a knock against DU... I have utmost confidence in my reasoning and logic. But the American people sometimes seem to have difficulty dealing with logic and reason.

4. They are the side that prefers censorship.

While, obviously, the democratic side prefers openness. That should give one a large clue as to which side that a neutral spectator will lean towards, imho.

Also, look at which side as millions and millions to blow and whole "news" stations to protect and broadcast their propaganda.

2. WHY are they calling Clarke a liar
based on a Fox report? What is THAT based on? I don't have time to read it all - barely keeping up with the latest here.

5. Apparantly, privatizing public services isn't enough for those wingnuts.

Now they think they can even create their own private reality.

8. Best. Line.Ever.
I'm mighty tempted to use that as a sig line.

Keep up the good work.

6. It is interesting, but
I don't think it's important to observe the freeper reaction. They live in make-believe land. So what if their reaction contains clues to future character attacks on Clarke and others? (Not a slam on you, by the way, just my view on them.) We already know they will take the low road. Sticking to reality and facts is what brings down a house of cards, in any circumstance, and as long as "the good guys" keep doing that, their opponents will be seen to have no refutations, only pettiness.

7. I saw Clarke, he rocked like no other.
This just proves how fucking dillusional they are. There wasn't a single good thing that happened for the White House in that entire interview that I saw. Especially when Thompson pulled out that Fux News bullshit. He blew them away.
