Fox News can be "stopped"
Blogs are more important now than ever.. All liberal bloggers should seize the moment and TRY to get this message out to all democratic/liberal politicians..

THEY SHOULD NEVER..EVER..AGREE TO GO ON ANY OF THEIR "SHOWS"..EVER AGAIN..

They have proven today that they care more about "protecting" their republican pals and distorting truth MORE than they care about getting to the bottom of what really happened on the day that so many Americans were "murdered"... ....

Fox news deserves to be exactly what WE know them to be.. The video version of Rush Limbaugh et al... By even going on their network, they give "cover" to them, and allow them to spout that ridiculous "fair & balanced" crap.. They are the equivalent of Zell Miller..

By them participating in their dog & pony show, they allow Fox-ies to say "........, a DEMOCRAT, said on our show......", and we brought it to you because we are fair and balanced..:puke:

CUT THEM OFF...AND CUT THEM OFF NOW!!

Since mostly rightwingers watch anyway, I say..Let them..and ONLY them watch.. Do not feed their "beast"...

They are only trolling for soundbytes for Karl Rove..

We see it, and our elected leaders should too..

It's not as if they are the ONLY tv station out there..

2. man, are you ever right about that!
ask yourself, would Ike have gone on Radio DeutscheNazi, or whatever it was during WWII?

why on earth do they subject themselves to that crap?

espeially when fox can edit their appearances and USE them for pug benefit?

do they need ANY further demonstration of fox's utter and complete subservience to the crown?

4. Would Trotky have appeared on Stalin's Pravda?
Considering Stalin's Pravda is quite analogous to what Fox News is today.

6. Or would FDR make an appearance on Tokyo Rose's show?
I consider Fox News and Rush, Hannity, Savage, Boortz and the whole lot the exact same type of Propaganda show as was Tokyo Rose.

3. A little known fact?
There is an interesting little tidbit in the cable television act.

Did you know that you could demand that your cable provider BLOCK any channel AT THEIR EXPENSE that you don't want to receive?

Call me a dreamer, but when I read that I had a fantasy of a BOYCOTT. If millions of people blocked the Fox News Network from their cable receiver, we could possibly have an impact:

a) by costing the cable companies a bundle to actually block so many households (this is rarely invoked, and could be costly)

b) Fox advertisers would start to see the channel as less attractive, since it is being actively blocked.

This came up back when the Playboy Channel went on the air. Playboy offered to pay for the blocking themselves, even though if many people had requested it they would have gone bankrupt. They thought it was a safe bet that nobody would, and they were right.

I don't know, just a fantasy . . .

11. I didn't know that!
Thanks for the info.

Fox is right above (numerically) Comedy Central and I hate when I accidentally hit the 6 instead of the 5 on my remote.

I'll be making my call first thing tomorrow.

33. If this is true, we should all call our cable companies and ask them
to block FOX. And if they agree to block it, we should get the word out to everyone at DU, progressive blogs and anyone else we can think of. If enough people did this, it's bound to have some effect on their bottom line.

7. from time to time,
people (including me) have made this suggestion (plea). One argument against it is that they (Dems) need to appear to get their message out. What a crock!

I totally agree with you that it only serves to give Faux and the rest of the reich cover. The brain-dead morons who worship Rush, et al will never accept a new thought into their head, so that argument is totally bogus.

The reason that "our" side continues to give aid and comfort to the enemy is the same reason most of them go along with the POS-in-chief - they are more worried about their own jobs and power than doing the work WE sent them to DC for.

Unfortunately, I think that they will continue to do so, no matter how many of us beg them not to. To a politician, the media spotlight is a drug that they just cannot resist. Just Say No!

12. Yes to all of the above
and anyoone with a blog should write about it too..

Thses things make their way into the general public if enough people are talking about it..

Our biggest obstacle is the politicians themselves..They do love that camera time.. Too bad they are not smart enough to realize that they are helping the "enemy"..

Now, I've decided.

It'a a no-win situation if Dems go on Fox.

Fox spins it so badly, Dems look foolish, & then they can say but we're fair & balanced.

I say BOYCOTT!!

Anyone who cares about truth in journalism, should boycott.

saying "I refuse to go on your show because blah blah blah ...."

And make a big deal out of it.

Turn them into an echo chamber like Rush.

17. During the "recount", I wrote about this..
They should have ALL called a press conference, and announced that from that date on, NO ONE would be appearing on Fox, and then tell the media assembled WHY..

Fox would soon have withered into a pathetic little "gas-box" and would have achieved the ratings that Limbaugh got when he was on tv.. But like good little lambs to the slaughter, they went williingly to be "interviewed"...and with the tons on money that Murdoch shovelled in, they managed to gain some "credibility"..

Like the song says... "When will they ever learn.........."

19. I agree but
they always get, whether intentionally or not, third rate democrats to go on the shows anyhow. It makes us look bad because they are frequently very bad representatives for our perspective. Hannutty had Bernie Sanders on the other day and old nutty wanted to paint Sanders as a democrat...Sanders said he isn't a democrat, he is an independent and Sean said "well, you're a socialist. It's the same thing." So there is no way to win.

Alternatively, they get people like Lieberman on (hell, Edwards and Kerry went on during the primary season) and Lieberman makes them feel good because he, like Alan Colmes, is a democrat they can "respect" because he is right wing enough to satisfy them.

20. In all fairness, those wishy-washy ones NEED to be exposed
for what they are.. If there was a general boycot of Fox, and they still went on, they might suddenly find themselves without any committee appointments.. That's how the repugs do it.. Hardball

How often do you see Delay on CNN?? or Lott?..or Santorum??

You can bet that they are asked, but they "know" that "their home" is on Fox..

If they showed up at CNN , they "might" be asked embarrassing questions.. (lately, I would not count on it, but there is a palpable bias against CNN , by "foxy" people)..

27. I don't know...I've seen some Dems hold their own on Faux...

Charlie Rangel, Barney Frank, Ellis Hanican, Donna Brazille, to name a few. They're not always set up as punching bags.

Faux has a broad reach. Massive exposure. Maybe change some minds, you never know. But preaching to the choir only gets you so far.

I'll call tomorrow and have Faux blocked. Let's all do it...TOMORROW. Specifically tell your cable company that you want it blocked b/c the collusion b/t Faux and the WH to smear Clarke was the last straw that broke the back of "fair and balanced". WE CAN DO THIS! Get the word out. (Of course, it has been broken from the getgo but you get the drift).
