Iraq a diversion for terrorism, terrorism a diversion for?
I couple of weeks ago I saw something on TV which really did not resonate until today.

John Rhys-Davies:

By 2020, 50% of the children in Holland under the age of 18 will be of Muslim descent. You look and see what your founding fathers thought of the Dutch. They are constantly looking at the rise of democracy and Dutch values as being the very foundation of American Democracy. If by the mid-century the bulk of Holland is Muslim—and don’t forget, coupled with this there is this collapse of numbers ... Western Europeans are not having any babies. The population of Germany at the end of the century is going to be 56% of what it is now. The populations of France, 52% of what it is now. The population of Italy is going to be down 7 million people. There is a change happening in the very complexion of Western civilization in Europe that we should think about at least and argue about. If it just means the replacement of one genetic stock with another genetic stock, that doesn't matter too much. But if it involves the replacement of Western civilization with a different civilization with different cultural values, then it is something we really ought to discuss—because, g**dammit, I am for dead white male culture.

Now we can all start screaming "Racism" in response to this and all that, but is still going on. This process is happening, inexorably, and will happen even if all Radical Islamic terrorism stops, by force or otherwise, if the Palestinians and Israelis make peace, it will make no difference.

In Europe, the social nets that exist now will collapse under the weight of this profound change.

For most of us, we live in the America we are used to and while not every thing is perfect, and certainly there is room for certain improvements, living in a Muslim state is unthinkable unless you are a Muslim. We think that foreign cultures are interesting. Some of us even go and visit for a few weeks. But then we come home.

This is a cultural change of unprecedented scale.

1. Why do you think terrorism is a diversion
and a diversion of what? I can't see the connection with Rhys-Davies' views.

I'd like to see the basis for the '50% of Dutch children will be Muslim in 2020' before believing it. I'd also like to know the proportion who are practising Muslims (and those who are 'fundamentalist'), and those who are Muslim in the same sense that France is about 75% Christian (but about 10% are active worshippers). Living in a state where Muslims are the majority, but there are significant minorities, such as Malaysia, is certainly not unthinkable. Enforced Muslim ideals, eg no alcohol, might be (for me, at least), but there are states that are overwhelmingly Muslim (eg Jordan) that do permit it. It's a question of tolerance, not religion.

The projections of European populations by 2100 can vary a lot. For instance, the "Italy 7 million in 2100" appears to be the "at current rates" scenario. This also predicts Africa will be at 21 billion, and Asia at 19 billion, by 2100. I don't think (and neither does the UN) this is very likely. The UN's medium growth scenario for Italy puts it at 34 million by 2100.

2. Well, I would make the analogy
of cremation vs burial.

One is quick, the other is slow but the outcome is the same.

I agree that most Muslims are nice people and a lot of Islams ideals are certainly sound.

Having visited Muslim countries I would say that a profound culural change would take place in Europe with a majority Mulsim population.

As for places like Jordan, the tolerance is there to accomodate Westerners. When the Westerners are mostly Muslim, this tolerance would no longer make sense.

(Thanks for the response!)
