I'm still up absorbing, and watching replays and reading synopsis. The west cost news services are coming out fast and furiously (like Salon). I missed Larry King, and I'm watching the replay now. Chimpy is being buried. Big Time.

And the hits just keep on coming.

Today was a very good day. For you. For me. For America. We just might get our country back, thanks to Dick Clarke.

Back in October of 2002 there were a lot of us here that swore we would never vote again for anyone that voted for the Resolution. We sent flowers to Senator Byrd for his stand and the speeches he made.

Now it is anyone but Bush, very few are standing by the promises we made then. What is to come?

I still want to know, why did Clarke wait so long? Book or no book.

17. Clarke has been so focused -- he is phenomenal

Could we have turned the corner on this nightmare? I so much want to believe it.

Clarke's focus is amazing. I could only watch parts of things throughout the day and night -- including part of the final re-broadcast of Larry King Live with Clarke after midnight. He just refuses to be derailed. In response to being quoted some bit of slime emanating from the WH, he told more than one media personage (King included) "See, now they have you turning your attention away from the real point, which is ..." (I'm paraphrasing here of course.) He dealt with the Commission in the same way: very polite, always veering back to the main issues.

I think those media types are so accustomed to being able to turn any conversation into a discussion of personalities instead of issues that they must be flabbergasted by Richard Clarke. "Let's you and him fight" is their most enduring unspoken motto these days.

This is so different from the Watergate coverage. The newspapers and television reports engaged questions of substance in the downfall of Richard Nixon. So damn much of what passes for political news by now -- including this -- is about keeping score. Who made the most points? They talk about "both sides" regardless of who was under oath and who was just spinning. Very frustrating to watch.

Richard Clarke has joined the growing list of American patriots who deserve a medal for telling the truth, but who will never get one except in our hearts.
