Clarke Smearing

How successful do yall think the * administration has been so far in smearing Dick Clarke? I mean, I think, they're doing ok so far. They've pretty much painted him an outright liar on several things and the rest well, I think his credibility has taken a hit. Never underestimate Rove.

The Bushbots want desparately to believe Clarke has no cred, but Dems and old school conservatives know that he's the real deal and he's caused a lot of people to think hard about Bush and his "Terra Fighter" personna.

I think Ms. Rice has come off looking bad. She's been running her mouth for 3 days on TV, but she can't testify? I just heard David Gergan (sp?) on Nightline, and he said that not having her testify is a huge mistake. Even Chris Matthews has been pretty fair, a rarity for him.

Satan Cheney was saying he was, "frankly, not in the loop." (the "frankly" word is always a tip-off that an extra big whopper is on its way).

At the same time, as Joe Conason writes, "Yet the official White House response to his book states that Mr. Clarke "continued, in the Bush Administration, to be the National Coordinator for Counterterrorism and the President’s principal counterterrorism expert. He was expected to organize and attend all meetings of Principals and Deputies on terrorism. And he did."

In the words of one repuke today, so what's it gonna' be? Which one is it? YOU HAVE A REAL CREDIBILITY PROBLEM!

if you worked for WH or government, was fired or resigned, and you critisize bush* then you are "disgruntled"

if you are a journalist or columnist that writes things that are critical of bush* then you are "partisan"

as for the rest of us --- we're just plain "unpatriotic"
