1. Good for him
Maybe now he won't have to go doctor shopping and have the maid give him a good deal when he can just buy the generic brand which is good quality at rock bottom prices.

3. Sadly, this will be bad for patients with real

chronic pain who are being helped by proper use of Oxycontin. HMO's will force people to buy the generic form. Generics are not always as effective as the original brand-name drug, but HMO's don't care whether the drug works for you, just how much it costs.

:grr:

4. why are cheaper drugs a bad thing?
I'm sure they'll work fine without the Purdue-Pharma label. If anything it allows HMOs to liberalize dispensation and coverage policies.

5. One thing...
WHile I know prices will drop now, doesn't this type of stuff make companies jack up prices in the first few years, since they have to recoup there $400Million in only the first few years before generics come out...

6. Generics HAVE To Be As Effective...
...before they are offerred for sale. That's why they're called "generic equivalents".
