The American People Are Rather Pissed Off

I found it very interesting that the callers into the Larry King show, both with Dean was on and afterwards, were much more pointed in their questions than King and his panel of guests.

When Dean was on, they seemed to want him to go further in his criticisms of Bush.

With the panel, I had to love the guy from Utah, of all places, demanding to know when the media would find the courage to question * on Harken and on his AWOL during Vietnam.

I thought Dean's responses were great, and I hope he cuts loose, relaxes more, and truly trusts in the rest of us to keep the fires burning.

Something is happening with this campaign--the "experts" keep trying to define it, but it is unlike anything any of us have seen before.

5. The again

How many repukes are going to watch a TV show with a Dem presidential candidate on? The demographics of his show today would be mainly Dems.
He's preaching to the choir.
The show's producers are going to put calls through that will allow the guest to make their point, not debate them.

2. I hope that you are right

I think people are ready for a person that they see as being in the middle and very stable but also likeable. A lot of people thought they were getting that in Bush but now they are seeing that he is not really in the middle (of course, I could have told them that).

Dean has an advantage over Gephardt and Kerry and Edwards and Lieberman in that they are seen as insiders. Also they are seen as being wimps because the Republicans push them around in Congress. Young white males usually are afraid to say they are for someone that can be pushed around.

3. This phenomenon has been seen before.

Such was the momentum of the Clinton campaign when it because apparent that Bush Sr. was about to get steamrolled out of office. Clinton, like Dean, had the young MTV culture pushing his wave. This is an opportunity for history to repeat itself.

I sincerely hope that Dean remains flinty, not arrogant, so that this support will carry him through November of next year.

As for the speculation that Dean may peak "too soon": how will the rest of the voters feel about Bush* at election time? Bush* seemed to peak about November of 2001 and it has been all downhill from there.

6. Bush-Bashing Has Its Limitations

Yes, many people are hopping up and down mad about the Bush presidency, not only the illegitimate way he became president, but also the extreme policies he's pursued since he's been in office. But Dean has to be careful to pitch to people who find Bush likeable, because such people do indeed exist.

During the Senatorial campaign between Rick Lazio and Hillary Clinton, Lazio delighted his fans with the aggressive way he confronted the former First Lady. The strategy totally backfired because middle of the road voters were offended. A mystified Lazio saw his poll numbers drop even has his fans were slapping him on the back for his "brilliant" performance.

7. The same thing happened in Texas

when Bush ran against Ann Richards. She got a little to vocal about him, even called him a Jerk (which he is), and her numbers immediately went down. The rest is history.
