Anybody Else Getting Sick Of The Proselytizing Here Lately?

And I am referring to Atheist prostletizing as WELL as Christian prostletizing!

i am all for intelligent discussion of the Pledge or a Movie but the threads that tell me and others how to think (or how we SHOULD think) about a particular belief is more than a little tiresome and frankly a rediculous excercise on paper.

both posters who started those threads are pushing THEIR beliefs on everyone else and when they get 'another version' the flame wars begin.

although I haven't gone in the pledge threat in LBN yet, just the ones in GD.

What I have seen is atheists standing up for their rights and getting a lot of support from other DUers. Nice to know some believers understand.

Man, can you imagine the punching and kicking that would go on in there? Sort of like an internet version of a Three Stooges marathon. It would make the Gungeon look like a botanist convention.

On second thought, a separate forum for that is a really horrible idea.

I'm getting REAL tired of Atheists on this board trying to impune the intelligence of anyone who admits to a belief in God.
Additionally, I find it highly insulting to be lumped in with the fundie whack jobs simply because I have a belief that Atheists dont share.

For what its worth, it's not a matter of intelligence, its a matter of faith.
For free thinking defenders of EVERYONES rights (as DUers are supposed to be) to disparage anyone because they hold a differing belief, smacks of the very same hypocrisy displayed by religious zealots.

I've said it before, and I'm saying it again...I promise to NEVER belittle anyone here for their religious beliefs (or lack thereof). I only ask for the same respect in return.

You asked a question in the original post, I answered it.

Nowhere did I accuse YOU personally of insulting my intelligence. Just an observation I've made lately of quite a few Atheists on DU, and the way they treat people who profess a belief in God.

I have also NEVER tried make an argument by attempting to 'recruit' anyone, so I cannot answer for those who have.

They are wrong, IMO, NOT for what they believe, but for attempting to insult those who believe differently.

I feel just as strongly about believers 'bible thumping' against non-believers,(to borrow your phrasing) its just that I've noticed more of the opposite.

If there is any doubt in your mind that I live by my words, I suggest YOU do a search and show me where I have done that to anyone on DU.
Again, I cannot answer for those who have.
