My call to W.H. Re: Bush "Jokes" about WMD
Edited on Thu Mar-25-04 02:01 PM by BeHereNow
Thanks to another poster who gave me the number
to the White House commentart line, I just called and
calmly expressed my deep concern about the
inappropriateness of Bush's jokes about the WMD's during
his dinner last night.
I asked if the President had access to a therapist of any
kind, given the stress he was under, and the clearly sociopathic
behavior he displayed.
(The operator could not give me that information.)
I pointed out that such humor was not appropriate under
ANY circumstance, including a dinner among friends.
(The operator agreed.)
I also stated that the citizens of this country were united
in serious doubts about the administration, especially in
light of recent events.
(The operator said, "Yes we are aware of recent events
and public opinion about them..."
I then asked, "Oh, then you have you received other calls
similar to mine since the publication of Bush's dinner conversation?"
(The operator said he could not tell me that information.)
I then said, " I believe and would like it conveyed to the
President that he owes the citizens of this country an apology.
That our young men and women are in the ME facing death
daily over what now appears to be a lie about WMDs. and that
above all, President Bush owes the men and women of our
military and apology and their family members who wake
up in fear every day of receiving the news that their loved
one has been killed by a bomb or hostile attack on troops that
were sent there by a Congress decieved about WMDs, and
that is no laughting matter."
(the operator thanked me for my call and assured me
that my comments would be relayed.)

DUERS- YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO:
(202) 456- 1414
(202) 456- 1111
Third edit to correct number.
Sorry, I am severely dyslexic.

Sorry for the typos, but I tell you, this thing has me
so disturbed- such blatant mockery.

3. Sorry, dyslexia...
I often switch numbers, but can remember
numbers from YEARS ago- weird eh?
Corrected number:
(202) 456-1414
(202) 465-1111

If you call, please report back and let us know
your experience and feeling about your conversation.
I had the distinct feeling that the operator had been through
several calls like mine, and was even embarrased about
the whole situation.

9. I called and spoke to a woman
I told her that I think it was appalling that the President would find it necessary to have a good laugh at the expense of the men and women who are dying in Iraq. I told her that I just read that another three soldiers had died and they very well could have been killed at the very moment he was laughing it up. My emotions got the better of me and I started crying as I finished telling her that we have had enough and he should offer an apology.

11. No Doubt- Apology is due.
I am sorry that you are hurting and that you cried-
but it is time that we turn our tears into a river
of rage.
This man is OUT OF CONTROL and exhibiting the
symptoms of a sociopath.
Our tears combined into a mighty river can wash
that town clean.
WE MUST demand accountabiltiy here.
The President owes us all an apology over this
heinous act which apology or not, I find
unforgivable.

I am stunned every single day by this ignorant, callous, cold-hearted buffoon.

I hope the world kows how ashamed and sorry most of us are for having this man represent our great nation.

12. I just called
I told them that I was absolutley appalled and shocked that the President was making jokes about WMD's when soldiers were be killed and wounded daily in Iraq. I also told her that my father and uncles were/are Vets and that the Presidents comments were an insult to thier memories and sacraficies. I think that these telephone numbers should be posted in their own topic so that all DUer's can give the WH a call and let their feelings known ( I can't do it because I don't have enough posts yet)

15. WELCOME TO DU!
And thanks for calling and letting us know how it went.
I agree, I think evewry DUer on board should call.
The behavior was simply unacceptable and he owes
us an apology.
I have had quite enough of this man mocking the
innocent people of this country and the world.
He is so far removed from the day to day reality
of other people, everyday people, who worry about
the safety of their loved ones in the ME, among the
other crisises this administration has dealt mercilessly on
our nation since they were appointed, NOT elected.
For me, this insensitve 'joke" is the final straw.
I am beyond tired of this person mocking us all.
It is like a serial killer smirking at the family of his
victim as he is found "not guitly" wheneveryone knows
he is.
Completely disturbing.

13. Did I miss something here...?
Another slide showed Bush playing cards on Air Force One. He said that's one of him boning up on the names of leaders he was about to meet at an international summit.

What's the punch line? Will someone explain this one to me? :dunce:

24. Andy Hill from Boston news once asked Bush to name world leaders
This was during his run for President. Hill is known for pulling this stuff. Obviously the Bush staff was prepared. As I remember he got none right. The funny one was him trying to quess the leader from India. Yea, Ummm. Ummm. He was just elected. Oh. No, I don't know. Of cource the media turned on their own and ripped Hill.

14. I called too
Edited on Thu Mar-25-04 02:35 PM by PA Democrat
I said I felt Bush's "jokes" about WMD's to be the epitome of bad taste and sheer callousness in light of the fact that soldiers are being killed almost daily in Iraq.

I also suggested that if Condi has so much to say about the 9-11 investigation that she get her butt in front of the 9-11 commission and testify publicly and UNDER OATH.

17. i'm not sure that calling the whitehouse is the best strategy
why not just let them drown in their ignorance/stupidity? why bother alerting them to the fact that the country is in growing unrest? (who knows, they might actually wise up a bit).

the effort would be better spent writing a letter to your local newspaper.

27. The class clown, good ol' boy stuff is getting old
even with some of my Republican die-hard Bush supporter friends. When I relayed this to two of them, they were totally shocked and speechless. One said it was "extremely inappropriate."

We've known about the class clown, good ol'boy stuff for a long time. But now, even some of his supporters are noticing that the emperor has no clothes. This kind of garbage is wearing thin, and I hope the media does their job and starts to crucify this sob.
