Forget about getting God out of the Pledge, let's get the lord out of
the business of "dirty, hard and dangerous...covert actions" by the CIA and the government in general.

Richard Armitage is quoted in the NY Times transcript of yesterday's Public Testimony Before 9/11 Panel as saying,

"I think the direction that Director Tenet has taken the Central Intelligence Agency has been extraordinarily noteworthy, but some of us were around at a time when the agency was frightened away from doing the dirty, hard and dangerous work that needs to be done to secure our nation. And I think to the extent that you can make covert actions more acceptable and more understood, more broadly, then you'll be doing the lord's work."

So, according to this, the "dirty, hard and dangerous...covert actions" is the "lord's work."

This perspective is abdominal in my opinion.

2. I can't stomach it either
:-)

there was a comic moment, at least for me, after the Pledge of Allegiance hearing. The reporters were interviewing the girl's mother, who wants "under god" left in.

she said, "I don't think we should give in to popular culture."

Then, two minutes later, when asked why her daughter didn't attend the hearing, she said,

"she is a 9-year-old-girl, and that is her job, to be a nine-year old girl. Her job right now is to dance to Britney Spears."

Her job. hahahahaha

Oops, pop culture did it again!
