He's a naive idiot, but he's still a democrat. Give him a nice
job in the chain of command and he'll do a great job. Get a serious
person in to the leadership chair, so we can win some.

8. Senator Byrd doesn't have a lot of friends
It allows him to be pretty frank cause he doesn't have to worry about offending people, but it also makes it hard for him to pass the legislation we would like to see passed.

10. Byrd is also
80 something and I understand feeble. if he survives he will pass Strom thurmond's longevity record in the Senate This January. He was also Dem leader for about 10 years previously beginning in 1977, so he has been there and done that.
