Clinton Gave Me Goosebumps Tonight
He was by far the best speaker at the DNC's Unity Dinner tonight. They all did a great job, but Clinton is so eloquent when he speaks. Truly moving. He makes me wish I could vote for him again!

Now, I've figured out the Democrat's strategy, I think. (I'm sure this has been discussed already. Hope I'm not being redundant.) Anyway, it looks like they're going to take the high road. Kerry talked about the economy, developing alternative fuels to save the enviroment and our troops, (He doesn't want anyone dying for oil. Wonder why he said that?), health care and education. Nobody really mentioned the hearings - Clinton touched on it. It's pretty apparent they're hoping these Bush bastards drown in their own slop. I think it'll work. What do you think?

4. I do too
If I got close enough to shake his hand I would pee myself.God,I sure miss him. I have to admit I cried when he was speaking. It felt so good to see and hear what a REAL President is...but at the same time I was sad when I thought of who we've got to put up with until 2005. How depressing!

I have heard that he sent only a few emails while in office and that he writes his book long hand..

22. He knows!
God(dess) love him, he'd rather talk to anyone about anything for half an hour rather than send an email. As for the longhand thing, you will find a lot of law school types who just will not give up that legal pad.

2. Clinton is behind Kerry. Good and it also makes me mad.
If Kerry has Clinton behind him, there's a good chance we will get our country back. On the other hand I feel manipulated again. :freak:

12. Since no one has answered, I'll tell you what nags me...
this strategy that Chris Matthews keeps talking about: "Do the Clintons really want Kerry to lose so Hillary can run in 2008?" He asked again tonight, "Will they get the picture of Hillary standing with John Kerry?"

That kind of talk makes me stop blotting my eyes about how much I miss Clinton and the good days of his 8 years and wonder: Am I being made a fool of all over again? I've become to disillusioned and cynical since Bush took office, I hardly trust anyone. Except Howard Dean. The camera doesn't lie about that man. I trust him completely, and he says he's throwing everything behind Kerry. So that's what we're doing here in Johnson County, Texas. I sent money to Kerry today because Howard Dean asked us to. That's how bad it is. But I keep looking over my shoulder. I know what you mean.

17. I just don't get the RNCs obsession with Hillary
If you really sit and think about the crap they are saying, it doesn't make any sense. Every move any Democrat makes is so Hillary can step in and run for President. If Hillary wanted to run right now, she would. (And, she'd probably win.) It wouldn't have to be any big sneak attack. I think if we were to don tin foil over the Hillary thing, it should be to ask why ISN'T she running now?

I really don't understand their fixation with her, except for the fact she scares the crap out of them.

24. They love to use her as a scape-goat for their fund-raising
The fund-raising letters that go out to the Republicans are all about her because they love to hate a strong independent woman. I know people who are still fixated on her and you can tell they just love to obsess about her. And now they are also getting fixated on Teresa Heinz-Kerry. They are weird people.

19. I love to listen to Clinton speak. He has been very underutilized
in the thing he does so excellently. I think the Jennifer, Paula, Monica game played against him was deliberatly done by (***** we really don't know who is at the bottom of this) because of his excellence in speaking. I am old enough to remember Reagan speaking. I had to argue with liberal friends of mine who fell under Reagan's spell to tell them what he was doing.

Those of us who recognize "fabulous orator skills", also recognize the need to flesh out the words. Unfortunately the Republicans don't have a "great orater" anymore. We have Clinton. But what I am saying is that I don't feel the Clinton really addresses the problems that ordinary people have anymore.

I voted for him in the primary way back then because he promised a health plan. When he and Hillary were attacked voraciously about their health plan, then the whole issue got pushed away. Then it sort of re-emerged as a patient's bill of health. We didn't even hear about that anymore, until Howard Dean and Dennis Kucinich brought it up.

20. You're right and it was also during that time
I didn't think the President had any real power! I thought he must be more of a figurehead than anything else, considering how hard it was for him to accomplish anything. I don't get this vehement hatred of and fear of the Clinton's in the right wing. Have they ever trashed anybody more?

3. It will be soooo nice to have an intelligent
person in the WH, that the relief in the country will be palpable.

Perhaps now the talking head idiots will begin to comprehend that its not so cute to have a towel snapping, frat boy, sociopath, who gives you snarky nicknames running the country......or maybe not.

But it SHOULD be. Bush was already forced to back off of his "Rose Garden" strategy, so ideally, while the Thugs are on the ropes (and they should be on the defense all the way 'til November), Kerry should co-opt his strategy and let the public see that HE is the true Presidential candidate who can restore dignity and humanity to the WhiteHouse. This is why I don't like to see Kerry as the one attacking Bush on things like his WMD joke, Nascar appearance, etc. The Party needs to coordinate in such away that surrogates are constantly attacking BushCo and Kerry can remain as above the fray as possible. He needs the country to know that he is a fighter but he can't dip too far into the negative territory IMO. I think he needs to save his attacks for the BIG issues while other Dem leaders bang the drum continuously, hit them on EVERY mistake they make and call them on all their BS.

10. Presidential is as Presidential Does
I agree with you 100%. I'm really feeling good about this. Can you imagine... alternative fuel... environmental protections... war as a last resort. How much alternative fuel research would $81 billion have bought? Maybe one day we'll be able to breath free AND easy.

7. You're on to something. Kerry stayed out of the fray during the
9-11 hearings. Kerry's people did say that they feel the public will be turned off sooner or later about the negativity. However, I gathered they positively do intend to respond to each ad that depicts Kerry as a cartoon. I agree with you, and I hope (and think they will) keep the responses in an uplifting tone. You can say an ad is misleading without playing the mysterious music and heavy voice-over and sludge that comes with a negative ad.

9. It just may work
The key to its success is the presence of other sources that keep the focus on the crooked lying Bush administration.

Republicans have been using a similar strategy since the early 90's. Let their candidate take the high road while the Limbaughs of the world attack, attack, attack.

This year we have opened a new front in the battle. Organizations like moveon.org, meetups and progressive cyberspace sites like DU are revolutionizing politics. This is throwing Bush/Rove into a tailspin. They don't know how to respond.

We have them on the ropes. All Kerry has to do is land the finishing blows, especially in the debates.

14. That was Clinton's strategy, too, concerning the appearance of the HR
See, when your opponent is badmouthing you you badmouth him back. When he is incompetent and no one is pointing it out, you point it out. But when your opponent is being hung by a neutral party, you become gracious towards him, because to comment on it would seem like piling on. Being gracious looks gentlemanly and presidential, and you have no need to bloody your fists when others are doing it for you. Clinton was a master of this with Bush Daddy and with Dole. And Kerry's pretty shrewd, too.

21. I got the feeling McCauliffe will step aside and Gore to take over
Terry's position. I think it will signify that the DNC truly IS changing from the inside out. Everyone is seeing the danger we are in and as Ann Richards said, bush has pushed us all into each other's arms. I think change is inevitable because everyone HAS changed. YOu'd have to be in a hole to not have been affected.

I love Al but I don't see him as the Veep with Kerry.

23. I think we should MOSTLY take the high road
but we should not refrain from attacking Bush on lies and deception that are public record. His connection to corrupt CEOs, ordering the EPA to suppress research, ordering the Department of Health to post misleading information, and most of all the WMD lies are all fair game. Maybe Waxman and Ted Kennedy should be in charge of that angle.

When people were being announced, Hillary got the most applause. The Repubs hate her with a zeal but the Dems love her.

It's time for Kerry to pick a VP that will be the attack dog. I would like Clark to be VP but J. Edwards would be fine too. He could attack with his smooth Southern charm. hahaha

He's still got it.

He's fantastic. I applauded, I cheered, I got teary-eyed.

I also teared up when they showed the Kerry video of when he was young and testifying before the senate commission.

I'm such a dork.
