We are NOT better than any country on God's green earth! We have one of the highest infant mortality rates of any industrialized nation. We treat our elderly worse than many other nations. We have more hungry children than many industrialized nations. Corporations run our country. Most of our constitutionally given rights are not really ours, in practice, even BEFORE the Patriot Act. We put more people to death here than many industrialized nations. There is less justice for those in poverty here, including in the courts. Etc., etc., etc.

Don't get me wrong: I love my country. I even love my state (Texas), but this is NOT the best country in the world. Not by a long shot. And it's time we stood up and said that AND to do something about it.

But, on the other hand, I live in deep Republican territory and they don't care if it's true or not. They don't want to take their blinders off about their administration.

They bash Dem's here just to be bashing. Believe me I get alot of flak around here about my politics. Democratic Primary day, we went down about 5:00 that evening to vote and one of the Ladys told me she had only 24 people come to her station the whole day.

In my neck of the woods, if a Dem quietly lets comments go with out retraction or outrage, these people spin it till it's truth. I have had some pretty stupid stuff said to me from people about this candidate or that in the Democratic party.
