WASHINGTON – A Texas Democratic fundraiser, speaking not for attribution, told me about the lunch he recently had at the home of former President Clinton in the New York suburbs. Clinton recounted his last meeting with President Bush over coffee, just before the inauguration on Jan. 20, 2001.

The outgoing president counseled his successor that he would face five challenges in the international arena - the Israeli- Palestinian conflict, the Al Qaeda terrorist threat, a nuclear-armed North Korea, the India-Pakistan confrontation, and the Saddam Hussein dictatorship in Iraq.

Clinton was surprised at Bush's response. He said he disagreed with Clinton's order - that he considered Saddam Hussein to be the primary threat that he would have to deal with.

The story casts a light - as it probably was intended to do - on the current controversy over whether President Bush allegedly neglected the war on terrorism in his single-minded preoccupation with bringing down Saddam Hussein, the man who plotted the assassination of his father.

All the republicans were whining "wag the dog" when Clinton went after Osama. They thought Clinton made up the whole threat. Instead of protecting millions of americans republicans were more interested in Clinton's penis.

doesn't it?? And maybe when you get sick of paying billions for fantasy wars, you'll get sick of the great Warrior King. He's protected us from squat. He was on duty 9/11. He went just so far in Afghanistan and then he sent the troops to make Iraq safe for his oil barrons. We never run out of idiots in this nation---just wave a war and a flag in front of them and they salivate all over themselves and think they are really fighting to accomplish something. He would have made us safer if he blew up Rush Limbaugh--then we wouldn't have to at least worry about Tim McVeigh types again.

A democratic fundraiser???? Why don't they name names. The problem is that the bushies are fighting among themselves. To make it look as if everything is sweet at the ranch, they are trying to bring other players into their dirty fight. Who better to bring in than President Clinton. Clinton the punching bag. And through Prez Clinton they are trying to engage Kerry. Kerry is smarter than that. Let them eat each other up and than Kerry can come in for the kill, and have clean hands.
