Family Values or Valueing Families?
It's that time again. The Presidential Election season is upon us. And after a vacation in Crawford Texas, Bush will return to roll out his "new" campaign products.

On the agenda will be terror, Weapons of Mass Destruction, Homeland Security, war, and the economy may be mentioned brieflly. One standard item of any republican campaign will be the issue of Family Values.

Family Values...mmmmm...leaves you with a warm and fuzzy feeling, doesn't it, sort of similar to the feeling you get when you see "Snuggles-the teddy bear".

The Democratic party, current and past candidates have all hit a wall on the issue of family values. This is clearly the exclusive domain of the Republican party. Perhaps, the question of family values is not being asked correctly.

Is it Family Values or Valueing the Family? For all the rhetoric and pontification about family values - just how much does the Republican party really value the family?

The No-Child-Left-Behind mandate is woefully underfunded. Bush is doing his best to dismantle headstart programs, privatize social security and tip-toe around healthcare. The recent child tax credit left millions of children and their families behind. Parents are losing their jobs. Millions of children are without healthcare.

Next time you hear Bush talk about family values, and before you get that warm and snuggly feeling - ask yourself just how much does he really value families?

1. Bush and his empty words fit his empty head.
What they have not taken he will now take in the second run around. Good luck to my poor children and grandchildren. Dickens will come out or his grave and write about it all maybe.
