I met John Kerry tonight !!!ask me anything !!!
And I got his autograph !!! Which is something I NEVER do,and I have met many "celebrities" over the years.
I asked him if he thinks we can close the School of the Americas, and he said he will definitely look into it. http://www.soaw.org/new/index.php
I told him to take care of himself, because being on the road can be tough, and he thanked me!
His speech was great, and well received by the UAW members. All in all, I'd have to say it was a good night !!!
There were about twenty *bush/cheney morans outside chanting,"4 more years" and when i said "and 4 more wars" everyone laughed and then agreed.

6. When I was working at a PEACE lobby.
We watched the Documentary about the School of the Americas and I almost cried.(Note-I'm a macho tough man)

My family has been directly affected by the SOA.
That piece of sh*t Wesley Clark delivered a commencement speech at the SOA in 1996.

On a positive note great job you rock!

39. Thanks !!!
I'm really glad I had the chance to meet him, and that he took me seriously, and he knew exactly what I was talking about !!!

I was at Ft Benning this past fall. We were there with about 10,000 other people to protest the SOA. On the last day, we had a funeral for all the victims. It was, by far, one of the saddest things I have seen in my 40 years.
As we proceeded towards the gates to lay the white crosses with the victims names at the gates of this fort, people were singing the names and sometimes ages of the victims, and then we would all raise a fist, a hand, or a cross, and reply, "presente" for the people that couldn't reply because they were DEAD!
I'm sorry that your family had to go through anything like what I saw on the videos, or that anyone should have to suffer like this. For what ???? More money for people that are already filthy rich ???

Anyway, why don't you come with us next year ?? We may have a new president by then !!!! And together we can close this school for good !!!! message me
Joe

37. More on the SOA
http://www.soaw.org/new/index.php

The School of the Americas aka the School of the Assasins. It is in Ft. Benning in Georgia. It is where the USA teaches Latin American soldiers how to kill, torture, and supress poor people, so they can go back to their countries and terrorize their own people so a few fat white guys can steal more of the world's wealth.

12. I've never met Lincoln,
but I guess one could say there is some resemblance. He certainly has the chance to be a great president. If he can accomplish half the things he talked about, then he will be next to Lincoln, as one that saved this country.

25. This is weird to me, but I see something in him that reminds me in
looks only of Reagan. This isn't negative though because for some reason Reagon appealed to many people in a fatherly way. Anyway, I think this will help him get a lot of non-Democratic votes. At least I hope so because he'll be a lot more competent of a president than Reagan was.

16. No, I don't think so,
but I'm not a medical professional. I thought he looked real healthy, but a little on the thin side, maybe a result of the cancer treatments ? Mind you, I'm a BIG guy, so most people look thin to me !!!

he is very lean, and being tall makes it look even more so. but he is toned. that's how he is able to windsurf, ski, snowboard, ice hockey, etc at 60 years old.

19. I didn't get to shake hands with him...
I passed my sticker (for the autograph) over the heads of like eight people as i asked my question. I didn't see him shaking anyones hands. The secret service guys seemed real nervous (even for them) as this was not part of the nights plans, In fact, because of the overflow crowd, we were in another building, and watched the speech on a giant screen. He wanted to come over to see us, against secret service wishes.
I had a little resentment going on, because all the muckety mucks got into the big room and we didn't, but then we got to meet him up close and they didn't. LOL Maybe i shouldn't be such a baby !!!

21. i'm sure kerry will be in michigan many more times
while it has recently leaned more democratic, it's still a swing state and one kerry will fight hard for. so i'm sure he will be coming there many times throughout the campaign.

23. That's what my wife said !!
Especially because the UAW is supporting him, and we are "volunteering" to work the campaign, I will meet him again !! And even though Gore won Michigan, there are a suprising number of right wingnuts here, like the 20 or so that were outside tonight. Still, I feel more optimistic than I have in some time !!!

33. Actually, I think Detroit is a given.....
It's the people out in the 'burbs that we need to swing. Also the people out in the farms. These are the voters we need to reach.

41. The people in Detroit were the ones disenfranchised during the
primaries. The people in Detroit are the ones who feel they don't have a voice. This is a common mistake, thinking the ones to swing are in the suburbs. :hi:

I know this because I'm working on getting the vote in Detroit out.

I was glad to meet him also. My impression as one guy to another was that i would drink with him !!! As far as repub lite goes, Maybe a few months ago, I would have agreed , but not anymore. Many of the things he spoke about today and tonight would be considered left of center, or as the repugs might say "a commie"

30. Warren, Michigan
Just north of Detroit. He was at wayne state university during the day and gave a speech there. I met him at a United Auto Workers regional hall. He was there because the UAW has endorsed him for president. I didn't see his wife, so I'm not sure if she was there. But, I think if she was with him, she would have been on the stage??
