Sources--Clark to earn over $1million for book
SOURCES: CLARKE 'TO EARN OVER $1 MILLION FOR BOOK'; CONTRACT: BONUSES ADDED

**Exclusive**

Former counterterrorism chief Richard Clarke is on track to earn over $1 million in cash advance and royalties for his controversial book AGAINST ALL ENEMIES, publishing sources tell the DRUDGE REPORT.

"Mr. Clarke's six-figure advance will soon turn into a seven-figure compensation, if sales continue at this pace," a top source at Clarke's imprint SIMON & SCHUSTER reveals.
-snip-

AGAINST ALL ENEMIES sold more than 140,000 units in its first week, a second publishing insider claims.

-snip-

"There are bonuses for each week the book remains on the charts," the source, who demanded anonymity, explains.

1. Good for him. He won't be able to work anywhere
for awhile, possibly, according to a comment he made on MTP this morning (I hope I heard right). He said the attack dogs are after him, so I hope some good dems give him some work. I also hope he'll be able to contribute to whichever 9-11 fund or veterans' funds, as a he said he'd like to.

15. Yes, of course. But the point was that
his life has been changed forever now by taking a stand against Bushco. He'll probably need more money (and new powerful friends) than he realizes to survive.

2. Why doesn't Drudge say where some of the proceeds will go?
widows and orphans of 9/11. Iraq, Afghanistan. Plus he has to watch out for his own financial future, because a man who has worked over 30 years in positions of the highest responsiblity "will never earn a dime in D. C. again."

But telling the FULL truth will NEVER be Drudge's line of work.

3. He'll need every penny
To hire laywers to fend off the junta's attempt to destroy him.

Clinton's legal bills for blowjobgate were over 10 million.

4. Did anyone see Clarke on CNN this morning.
He was on with that blonde lady, sorry I can't think of her name. She asked him about all the money he would be making on this book, and that some say he should give the money to charity or something. I could have sworn I heard Clarke start to reply "That has always been the plan." But then the interviewer just kept on talking and the never revisited the subject that I heard.

Did anyone else catch this interview? And, was I hearing things, or is that what Clarke said?

Thanks.

she has a socket in the back of her head so that Rove can feed the WH spin directly into her mouth while bypassing her brain entirely.

8. And he's earned every penny.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On the morning of the 12th DOD's focus was already beginning to shift from al Queda. CIA was explicit now that al Queda was guilty of the attacks, but Paul Wolfowitz, Rumsfeld's deputy, was not persuaded. It was too sophisticated and complicated an operation, he said, for a terrorist group to have pulled off by itself, without a state sponsor - Iraq must have helped them.
I had a flashback to Wolfowitz saying the very same thing in April when the administration had finally held its first deputy secretary-level meeting on terrorism. When I had urged action on al Queda then, Wolfowitz had harked back to the 1993 attack on the World Trade Center, saying al Queda could not have done that alone and must have had help from Iraq. The focus on al Queda was wrong, he had said in April, we must go after Iraqi-sponsored terrorism. He had rejected my assertion and CIA's that there had been no Iraqi-sponsored terrorism against the United States since 1993. Now this line of thinking was coming back.
By the afternoon on Wednesday, Secretary Rumsfeld was talking about broadening the objectives of our response and "getting Iraq." Secretary Powell pushed back, urging a focus on al Queda....
<snip>
....Later in the day, Secretary Rumsfeld complained that there were no decent targets in Afghanistan and that we should consider bombing Iraq, which, he said, had better targets. At first I thought Rumsfeld was joking. But he was serious and the President did not reject out of hand the idea of attacking Iraq. Instead, he noted that what we needed to do with Iraq was to change the government, not just hit it with more cruise missiles, as Rumsfeld had implied.
12. Do Hannity, O'Reilly and Coulter
donate any of their book revenues? Like to the 9-11 fund or maybe to buy US soldiers the Kevlar vests the military can't afford?
Just curious.
13. Yes. Let's see George Bush donate some of the profits from the sale
of his phony picture on AF1 on 9/11. Where he's posed on the phone as if he's in charge. The picture that he SOLD to raise CAMPAIGN MONEY. Let's see some of THOSE profits go to the families.
Let's see Perle donate some of his profits from Trireme Partners to the families. Let's have Cheney donate some of his Halliburton stock options to the families.
16. how can they object to good old-fashioned American capitalism at work?
and given that the word has gone out that he'll never earn another dime in Washington, he's gonna need the money . . . it's also heartening to know that there's that much interest in his book . . . the more people read it, the more they start to understand the venality of BushCo . . . I say good for him . . .
