for IMUS fans.........
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1107042/posts

toldja so:
Don Imus on his radio show IMUS IN THE MORNING (also broadcast on MSNBC - TV) just (6:20 AM, Monday 3/30/04) offered Richard Clarke a job with a salary of $100,000 per year plus health benefits to be Security Consultant for his show PROVIDED that Richard Clarke donate all of the money he makes from his book, AGAINST ALL ENEMIES, plus advances,to the families of 9/11 victims. IMUS said he was calling on Mr. Clarke to make good his promise to donate money from the book as Mr. Clarke has offered in the Media. IMUS also argued that Mr. Clarke has never had "a real job," having worked for 30 years on public funding.

3. hee..hee...missed hat but you don't have to be able to predict
the future to know an imus endorsement is about as enduring as a fart.

he'll jump the fence back and forth weekly so all those folks who were rah-rahing his support of Kerry, don't be fooled. it's his schtick and nothing more.

2. Hey Don...
...there are people at WFAN who say the same things about you. All you do is blab and they're the ones who went out and got the money. You just sat around and drank and snorted. Now, you're just a pompous ass that's been around too long so people tolerate your crap.

While we're on this topic...didn't Mr. O'Reilly promise donations to 911 families and other support. Any report on how he's been doing lately??????

5. when imus endorsed Kerry, some here went gaga about how
good it would be to have his support/opinion going out to all the "millions" of listeners and viewers.

i said it was crap because his lack of loyalty to anyone or anything is a running gag on his show and not to count on him being one of the good guys.

6. So, might I ask
if you are connecting Imus' jokes about government jobs with his backing Kerry? Or perhaps the implication is that if Imus discusses the financial aspects of Clarke's book, that means he has "turned" on Kerry? Or is there something I am missing?

19. has imus turned on Kerry?
what day is it? last week he was telling jokes about Kerry.

i say he is a bush backer, going stealth because he has other priorities that make being a bush backer inconvenient at this time.

in additon, as i said, his 'loyalty' to anything...politicians to sports teams is a running gag, a part of his show. his support of KERRY is just noy someyhing we'd want to take to the bank.

10. Seriously, what do people like about the show?

I haven't watched/listened in a few years, but about the only good thing was some of the musicians he would have on, but you had to have a lot of patience... For every 10 minutes with Kinky Friedman, you'd have to listen to hours of him talking about his kid, his fake "charity" ranch, Bo Deedle, Tim Russert schmoozing, etc. etc. I'm not a big Stern fan, but at least he was somewhat consistently funny and wouldl actually ask an intelligent question when interviewing someone.

12. While I had hoped to hear back from the original poster,
I'll discuss this with you. I think it is fine if people dislike Imus, and I'd hope that those who dispise him not watch him. Or watch him, and discuss him using logic. But let's examine a few of the words and phrases that have been used here: "fans"-- I think that I was a Beatle "fan" as a child and teen. After the age of 17-18, people normally stop being "fans." Those who don't, tend to be "fans" of mindless crap like "survivor." So people who enjoy Imus are unlikely "fans" .... the word may say more about those who use it. Next, the "millions" (in quote) of people who listen ... there are millions who listen each week, so it is odd to question this. Finally, your comments on his face .... lots of us who are over 40 have our share of wrinkles. Those people who go out and register voters and try to educate the public may find that old folks are among the most energetic politic/social activists. I suspect Imus appeals to an older audience, who can appreciate his tongue-in-cheek humor.

20. ok....i'm back
i don't dislike imus...i used to listen regularly during my early AM walks. i am increasingly bored with the show because the show is slipping because he is slipping. ever since he married he has been losing his "edge".

i still tune in, if i have the time, for the interviews because he will let a guest speak more or less uninterrupted and i learn a lot that way and for the increasingly rare days when he is well enough to be funny.

if you wish to take issue with the use of the word fan...when he became 'the first major media person' to endorse Kerry. a segment of DU gushed over him. the word fan was appropriate for the people who i was referencing.

9. WRONG!! I HEARD THAT SEGMENT THIS MORNING!
Edited on Mon Mar-29-04 10:23 AM by matcom
i am no fan but its all that is on for my 2 minute commute in the mornings

Imus didn't say that.

He DID say he would offer him a job, at $100k because he wouldn't be able to get one in D.C.

Now, the donation comments came from that fat Bo Diddle guy who called Clarke a RAT and a FINK and all sorts of other stuff.

Imus CUT HIM OFF

Imus said it was about time this stuff started coming out.

so much for FreeReuklic as a 'news' source :eyes:

11. I heard the same segment
and I AM a fan of the show, but I disagree with your take. Imus flatly called Clarke a "lying weasel". I was shouting at my radio, "Shut up you old fool!" I don't listen to Imus for any political wisdom, he just occasionally makes me laugh. I can disagree with his politics in some instances and still enjoy the show.

18. Bo Dietl, and he IS a RW tool, but he and Imus go way back.
He's an ex-NYC detective who apparently did some amazing shit as a cop (some good, some bad), but politically he is a repug ass-kisser of the first magnitude.

with Clinton's antiterrorism measures and the republican watering down of his measures. My email was titled "who's lying?"

16. Every one is a weasel or dopey. He has no self control when he
talks. I usually tape it and watch later and I haven't seen today's show but I am more disappointed in Evan Thomas in the last year or so. His Socialist grandfather must be turning over in his grave.

15. Imus will do anything for a laugh or ratings,
but his wife and Theresa Heinz Kerry work on environments issues together and I think they really support Kerry. Those other Taliban he has with him are another story and because he is dependant on them to run his show he kind of lets them do their thing.
