Has anyone been banned from the Kerry forum?
I was censured for calling bu$h a liar - I was told I could say bu$h was lying but I could not say bu$h was a liar. My posting privileges were just reinstated. Just curious if this has happened to anyone else. . . It seems like all the Kerry supporters have been banned and now the majority of people posting are bu$h supporters!!!

4. Rule #4 of the Kerry forum rules
says that all discussion is to remain civil at all times, and the mods have the right to yadayadayada... just like here at DU.

5. You have to remember that the Kerry forum...
...is public and connected to the Senator's campaign.

You have to be much more above board than here.

I've been posting for a while and have not had any problems.

7. Above board but not overboard!
It just seemed silly to be censured for saying and I quote "bu$h is a liar and a misleader". It really was that innocuous!!

"Say anything stupid and chimpy gets it!"

9. I guess cuz the next thing we will hear is Rush et al saying
how evil the www.johnkerry.com site is because they condone blah blah blah blah blah.

ala "I'm not making this up folks. This is not those crazies on the Democratic Underground. This is the official site of the Kerry Campaign, and it just makes me sick the depths to which they will sink, the unfair things that they will say about this great President." and so on and on and on and on and on

8. I wasnt allowed to post this site on there
http://www.calltoconscience.net

They know Im the parent of a soldier in Iraq, but the forum moderator wouldnt let me post a Vets against the war site.
I called the Kerry camp in DC the other day, to talk of a few other things, and I mentioned this to the military task force guy about the moderator there

I would call them or email the Kerry campaign and tell them

they seemed pretty surprised when I told them that..there might be a Mod there who is an asshole.

10. Should Kerry even have a forum? It can only piss off voters.
It seems voters who are banned (moderate or liberal) will be so pissed that they will vote for Bush.

Also, many might agree with Kerry but not every post on the board.

15. You will not get banned if you follow the rules
That shouldn't really be so hard for Democrats to do. I know it would be near impossible for a Freeper to follow the rules but it certainly isn't a big chore. I doubt anyone will get pissed at Senator Kerry and not vote for him if they get banned for breaking well published rules. I got a reprimand for having a link in my sig line there. It had to be removed. They allow no links in sig lines at all. No big deal I guess. The link I had was to National Debt Clock which I thought was innocuous but oh well.

12. I was banned months ago
I made the mistake of suggesting that the local Keryy campaign staff hadn't done a very good job of setting up some pre-primary events-- such as handing out tee-shirts that were made in Honduras, not providing transportation for veterans with diabilities (to "march" in a Veterans' Day Parade), etc. I was told that there were to be NO criticisms of anything.

Since one cannot improve on something unless one knows it is less than perfect, nothing was fixed.

I never tried to get back on.

13. It was "the bush"
Not just bush. And the forum doesn't allow random name-calling against Bush or Republicans that wouldn't be allowed against Kerry or Democrats. Kerry is running for President of ALL the people, not just left wing Democrats. Links to sites can't be posted in the sig line because it's easier than trying to figure out which ones are legitimate and which ones aren't. And antecdotal random attacks, that can't be backed up with any resource, aren't allowed either. Which means posting Kerry is having an affair isn't allowed because there's no factual basis and Kerry didn't provide transportation for vets isn't allowed because there's no factual basis.

Having said that, I think sometimes the moderators are more sensitive to those on the right than those on the left. And a couple are just plain goofy altogether.

14. Well, even tho they may BE liars, you can't call them a liar.
Some such similar rule was in effect on DU - I know - I got called on it.

Yes, the moderators agreed, a certain individual is a liar, etc., but to maintain civil discourse, it is still "name calling" and wouldn't be tolerated.

Explained it simply enough.

You can disagree till you are blue in the face, which I often am, but it's thier site, their rules - and they are the supreme judges on infractions.

You might not like it but that's the way it is.

At least on DU, the "alert" key does come in handy.

Now, that doesn't stop you from pointing out the lies - that would be acceptable.

16. as I said, call or email Sen Kerrys office and tell them
you have a concern about the forums, if there is a concern. I did, and they were quite upset that I, as a soldiers mother against the war, and with a kid in Iraq, was told I couldnt post a specific site.
Enough letters to the Kerry campaign and enough emails might make them look at the situation. sometimes you go by the rules, but one specific mod with his own ax to grind behaves like an idiot.
I would at least email your concerns to them
or call the Kerry campaign.
I did over other matters, and I mentioned my concern too about the site they wouldnt let me post.
