Richard Clarke's Witnesses.
You know what I'm wondering? The White House employees who said that they witnessed the exchange between Bush and Clarke where Bush demanded that Clarke go back and find some connection between Iraq and 9/11 (I think there were two witnesses), what are their lives like right about now? If Bush or anyone else in the White House remembers them being present can you imagine the crap they're probably going through? I would love to see these two people come forward.

1. Also...
Clarke made a point to say that he still has friends in the WH - the ones who told him that BushCo wants to make it so that he never makes another dime in D.C. They must really be shaking everyone down. I can only imagine the level of paranoia in there right now. With so many crimes to coverup, more is sure to break.

2. Thought about that...and.......
also the guy who is still in the WH that told Clarke that the word inside was that Clarke would "never make another dime" in Washington.

If any of those can be taced, their life (or lives) are probably a living hell right about now..

3. They are probably dead.
I'm guessing they fell from an unscreened window "onto a hard surface from greater than 75 feet".

4. Yes - also Clarke's former co-worker
He mentioned on "Meet the Press" 3/28 that there was another guy who, like him, was disgusted with the way things were going in the Shrub WH. This was during the part where he was talking about how he'd asked to be put in the cyberspace security post. What was that guy's name?

5. Roger Cressey- Clarke's top aide already has
White House spokesman Scott McClellan sought to poke a hole in Clarke’s credibility by telling reporters that Bush didn’t recall the conversation and that no records show Bush was in the Situation Room at that time. However, Clarke’s former deputy, Roger Cressey, corroborated that the conversation between Bush and Clarke had occurred.

8. I loved Jon Stewart's take on this
Is McClellan saying that Bush was not in the Situation Room on September 12, 2001 at all ??????

It's like Cheney saying that Clarke was out of the loop: WTF would the counterterrorism chief be out of the loop on terrorism discussions????

Their backpedaling and lies are increasingly bizarre.

9. Uhmmm, Bush claims that he wasn't present.....
...Donald Rumsfeld also says he wasn't at a meeting that Clarke claimed he was. I'm just wondering, where the hell were our fearless leaders at those critical times then? :wtf:

17. I saw that Rummy made that claim-what meeting is he talking about?
I also saw that he made it on Fox News Sunday so he knew no one (more than usual) would question him on it.

7. In his testimony to the 911 Commission
Clarke said there were 2 (or 3?) other people in the room when Bu$h got in his face, pointing his finger saying he wanted a memo about Iraq. Clarke said they have already verified his story? This is the same story that the WH denied that W was even in the situation room on that day (9-12) and then just yesterday, Condi switched horses again, and confirmed that the meeting did happen.

Is it in Clarke's book, who the other people were?

Also Tenet said that some meetings were taped? That's what ended Nixon's presidency. Without the tapes, Nixon would have never had to resign.

12. I've been wondering about the supposed tapes
Someone here posted the quote and he said "recordings". What struck me right away was that this could have been written notes and not necessarily tapes. Just airing that concern. I certainly hope it's tapes.

15. Here's the part about the recordings

TENET: Sir, the CSG is a mechanism where all of these issues come into play every time it meets. What is the threat? What actions do we take?

It's a focal point for the way this government has organized itself around terrorism for years.

ROEMER: So you're saying it's them, not the CIA, that should have been attentive to this?

TENET: Well, the CIA is in the CSG meeting as well. I mean, everybody's at the table. The FBI is there, the NCS is there, CIA is there, domestic agencies are there.

Throughout this time period -- I don't have access to the minutes and recordings of what happened -- what actions were they tasking, how were they thinking about this?

ROEMER: They're going through a bottom-up review...

KEAN: Congressman, we've got to move on. We have run out of time. We've got one more commissioner.

13. Can you just imagine...
...the flood of books that is going to come out when this administration is finally out of power. All those people who will finally be able to exhale. I hope Jeb is seeing his dreams of occupying the White House going up in smoke.

16. TAPES? There are TAPES?
Holy Shit! The word is that no president since Nixon dared record meetings for obvious reasons.

What will it take to get them released?

18. There are recordings of the CSG meetings
that what Tenet said.

Now what does he mean by recordings? And two, what the CSG? Sounds major, all the key players were at the table?

21. I agree with eleny.
It sounds like just written records ("minutes and recordings"). Still, if they exist, written notes could be damaging.

23. on page 32 of Clarke's book
He describes the incident and names Lisa Gordon-Hagerty as being there with him in the room when Bush berates him. Then Paul Kurtz walks in and sees their shocked faces and asks about what just happened.

25. yes, that's what Lisa
says in response to Paul's query.

To go back a bit to look at who was there, Clarke writes:

"He grabbed a few of us and closed the door to the conference room."

He doesn't say who else was in the room with him, Lisa, and Bush. I suppose that she's the only one who allowed Clarke to use her name.

26. Also Roger Cressey was there
I found this tidbit on another thread:

Roger Cressey, Clarke's former deputy. Cressy backs up one of the most damning charges that has been leveled against the administration by Clarke: They blew past al Qaeda after the 9/11 attacks, focusing instead on Iraq. Cressy is one of four eyewitnesses to an exchange between Clarke and Bush which took place in the White House Situation Room on September 12, 2001. Bush pressed Clarke three times on September 12 to find evidence that Iraq was responsible for the attacks. According to his book, ?Against All Enemies,? Clarke protested that al-Qaida, and not Iraq, which was responsible. Bush angrily ordered him to "'look into Iraq, Saddam,'" and then left the room. According to Cressy, Condoleezza Rice was also a witness to this exchange. The word from administration officials is that Rice can?t seem to remember it. This, among others, is a reason Rice is refusing to testify publicly before the September 11 commission.

27. the witnesses are
so the witnesses to the exchange are: Clarke, Bush, Lisa G-H, Cressey, and Condi. Then Kurtz walks in and asks them about what just happened.

The fact that Condi was in the room and has amnesia is dynamite!

11. The White House liars have now admitted the meeting
Naturally, the corporate media won't give this proof of Clarke's honesty and the WH dishonesty any prominent coverage.

22. Lesley Stahl indicated that she confirmed with the witnesses
No names were mentioned, but this was in regards to Clarke's closed door meeting after 9-11 in which Bush pressured him to link the attacks with Iraq.
