2. Darn! I missed Meet the Press.
I like Clarke. He doesn't take crap from anyone. I hope he'll continue and that others feel encouraged to come forward.

16. IT was the second most beautiful moment in tv talking head history
that I've seen in the past month.

Clarke is also supposed to be on Comedy Central's news with Jon Stewart tonight, too...

21. Yep, thanx for the link, so I can print out what I heard...
...and I'm starting to feel that Clarke is to Bush Jr. as John Dean was to Nixon. Now, I hope and pray, there's an Alexander Butterfield somewhere in the WH. For those of you too young to remember Watergate, Butterfield was the guy who publicly revealed that there was a taping system in the White House---and the rest is history. I know there's no taping system now (hell, it would all be digital anyway, these days!), but it would be so fucking righteous if someone could come forth to supply enough truth to back up Clarke.

3. that was the best MTP appearance I have seen EVER
Clarke DESTROYED Russert. Russert kept trying to lead Clarke down the path he wanted, and Clarke wasn't having it. I've never seen anyone take care of Russert the way he did; best MTP EVER!

11. I guess they all "misunderestimated" Clarke's ability to...
beat them at their own game. He's worked with them for 30 years, didn't they realize that he knows how dirty they are? Clarke was great on MTP.

9. Ever laugh for an hour straight?
Edited on Mon Mar-29-04 03:45 PM by rocknation
MR. RUSSERT: The administration unleashes a ferocious counterattack.

([various] Videotapes)
MR. ANDREW CARD: The reflections in his book and what we hear in the media today are not the reality.

MR. SCOTT McCLELLAN: Deeply irresponsible. It's offensive and it's flat-out false.

MR. PAUL WOLFOWITZ: It just seems to be another instance where Mr. Clarke's memory is playing tricks.

DR. CONDOLEEZZA RICE: I just don't think that the record bears out Dick Clarke's assertion.
(End Videotape[s] )

A "ferocious counterattack?" Only one person came within spitting distance of calling Clarke a liar. I watched most of it Sunday, but I'm glad I missed this part--I would have laughed hard and long enough to have missed the ENTIRE interview!

:headbang:

12. Mr.Clarke...
has two things on his side,he has guts and the truth on his side. These
are just two things the chimps administration are lacking among a host of others, one at least is honesty.Mr.Clarke is a hero, and these people abhor him for that.History will tell who the real americans were on this issue, and who the true liars were.

19. Sometimes they'll tape the interview one day
and air it later in the week. The Daily Show does that a lot, and they're good - they make sure Jon wears the same suit for the full show as he did for the interview. You can sometimes hear a slip-up from the guest, referring to something that happened "last night," and you think "But that happened on Sunday night, and this is Wednesday."

I'm taping anyway, just to be sure. Getting Jennifer Beals wouldn't be the end of the world, anyway. ;-)

18. The timing of the book
Was really a good part. Russert asks why it came out just before the hearings when it was scheduled for late April. Clarke tells him that once the book is sent to the publisher it's out of his hands, that the publisher sets the release date and then Russert asks "But why did you change the date?"

Clarke is way classier than I am - I would have said "Are you even listening to me, fuckwad? I said THEY SET THE FUCKING DATE!"

But then that's why I'm not on TV.

26. Yeah, me too
I've got to believe that to even go on one of these shows with craven little clowns like Russert or Matthews you'd have to be on major doses of Prozac and about five other mood-leveling drugs.

22. I just read the transcript. Now I am even more mad that I missed it.
I'll watch Hardball tonight and the Daily Show.

There will always be some idiots who don't get it and who'll call Clarke a traitor. But having him and others on the air as much as possible will help some of them change their minds and not vote for Bush.

23. Another great moment was
when Clarke offered Bush's* note to Tim so TR could read it and TR declined. Then, with quiet relish, Clarke read it and emphasized the positive. I call that reaching up and kissing the sky.

That way, if it gets stolen or is "disappeared," it has been documented on international television.

28. Frists's words have been used to rate his book at Amazon -
"I am troubled that someone would sell a book, trading on their service as a government insider with access to our nation's most valuable intelligence, in order to profit from the suffering that this nation endured on September 11, 2001."

It appears there are a ton of people going to Amazon and rating Frist's book, using his own nasty words!
