Remember this? "Billy and His Bride"
Remember someone posted this, with the guy's email address who was spreading it. Anyway, I sent an email to his company showing them what one of their employees did with his time. Consider one freeper "busted!"

I've edited names and email addresses.. I just wanted to show everyone that people should be held responsible for spreading untrue, and slanderous, info...

-------------------------------

We apologize for this type of activity. It is not FirstEnergy's policy
to allow such email correspondence. The matter is immediately being investigated.

Thank you!

Pardon me, but in this economy, do you still have employees with enough free time on their hands to write and send emails like the following?

Subject: Our Billy
Subject: BILLY AND hIS BRIDE.
Billy & His Bride

Vital info for all who value our military and the service of our people, young and old!

Billy And His Bride:
Bill Clinton registers for the draft on September 08, 1964, accepting all contractual conditions of registering for the draft. Given Selective Service
Number 3 26 46 228.
Bill Clinton classified 2-S on November 17, 1964.
Bill Clinton reclassified 1-A on March 20, 1968.
Bill Clinton ordered to report for induction on July 28, 1969.
Bill Clinton dishonors order to report and is not inducted into the
military.
Bill Clinton reclassified 1-D after enlisting in the United States Army
Reserves on August 07,1969 under authority of Col. E. Holmes.
Clinton signs enlistment papers and takes oath of enlistment.
Bill Clinton fails to report to his duty station at the University of
Arkansas ROTC, September 1969.
Bill Clinton reclassified 1-A on October 30, 1969, as enlistment with Army Reserves is revoked by Colonel E. Holmes and Clinton now AWOL and subject to arrest under Public Law 90-40 (2)(a) "registrant who has failed to report...remain liable for induction".
Bill Clinton's birth date lottery number is 311, drawn December 1,1969,
but

anyone who has already been ordered to report for induction is
INELIGIBLE!
Bill Clinton runs for Congress (1974), while a fugitive from justice under Public Law 90-40.
Bill Clinton runs for Arkansas Attorney General (1976), while a
fugitive from justice.
Bill Clinton receives pardon on January 21, 1977, from Carter.
Bill Clinton (FIRST PARDONED FEDERAL FELON) ever to serve as President.
All these facts come from Freedom of Information requests, public laws, and

various books that have been published, and have not been refuted by Clinton.
After the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, which killed six and injured 1,000;
President Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished.
After the 1995 bombing in Saudi Arabia, which killed five U.S. military personnel; Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished.

After the 1996 Khobar Towers bombing in Saudi Arabia, which killed 19 and injured 200 U.S. military personnel; Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished. After the 1998 bombing of U.S. embassies in Africa, which killed 224 and injured 5,000; Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted
down and punished.
After the 2000 bombing of the USS Cole, which killed 17 and injured 39 U.S. sailors; Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down
and punished.
Maybe if Clinton had kept those promises, an estimated 3,000 people in New York and Washington, D.C. that are now dead would be alive today. AN INTERESTING QUESTION: This question was raised on a Philly radio call-in show. Without casting stones, it is a legitimate question. There are
two men, both extremely wealthy. One develops relatively cheap software and gives billions of dollars to charity. The other sponsors terrorism. That being
the case, why was it that the Clinton Administration spent more money chasing down Bill Gates over the eight years in office, than Osama bin Laden? THINK ABOUT IT!
It is a strange turn of events. Hillary gets $8 Million for her
forthcoming memoir. Bill gets about $12 Million for his memoir yet to be written. This from two people who spent 8 years being unable to recall anything about past events while under oath!
Sincerely, Cdr. Hamilton McWhorter USN (ret)

P.S. Please forward this to as many people as you can! We don't want this woman to even THINK of running for President.

4. my true intention?
I guess it was simply closure, really.

I was showing everybody what happened. Someone spread an email of lies and slander, and so I wrote an email to his company (which was evident because it was his company email address).

I was pleased with myself because the company actually wrote back, and it appears the guy got in trouble. I think people should be responsible for the kind of info they spread around, especially when it is slanderous.

Did you see some ulterior motive in my post?

11. You understand, of course,
that what you got the guy in trouble for was NOT his political views.

You got him in trouble for using his corporation's computer and email software for his private use.

I don't know if you happen to believe in karm or not, but you might just keep in mind that what goes around comes around -- and be VERY careful about using any of your own employer's material for your private use.

12. interesting..

I'm not seeing eye-to-eye with you on this. I am, as many have been, guilty of using my computer at work for private reasons.

However, there is a difference here, in fact a public relations factor involved. The offending person's email prominantly advertised the name of the company he worked for, thereby linking them, directly or indirectly, with the trash therein.

And he was the "originator" of the email - that's not to say he wrote it, but the current thread of distribution appeared to originate from him (the way it was presented).. perhaps he cut and pasted it from somewhere, and began emailing it out.

Who knows, and look, it doesn't really matter. I get mad as hell when people pass stuff off as fact without even doing the most cursory check of whether it holds water. The info in question was slanderous, and if printed somewhere, would probably be illegal. But because it was on a computer screen, it could just be magically passed aound in infinity.

(sigh).. so bad karma coming around? who knows. Maybe that was his karma coming around for something he did.. ;)

13. I speak as someone with years of experience
Edited on Thu Aug-07-03 02:53 PM by outinforce
I speak as someone with years of experience in "disciplining" employees.

The easist thing to charge an employee with, in a case such as this, is "misuse of corporate assets".

I would venture to guess that the company that your freeper correspondent works for has a clearly-stated policy which clearly forbids the use of corporate assets for private use.

THAT is what he will be charged with. To attempt to charge him/her with "contributing to bad PR" is just oo nebulous (why is it "bad" as opposed to "good" PR?). No, the easiest thing for the corporation to prove is that he misused the company's assets.

"The info in question was slanderous, and if printed somewhere, would probably be illegal."

It was certainly not slanderous. It might have been libleous.

Here's a way to remember the difference: Slander is always Spoken. Libel is not spoken (no "S"), but always written.

But even then, the company would have a difficult time "proving" that one of its employee's "libeled" another person.

14. the difference...
Your distinction between "slander" and "libel" is well noted. I've often confused the two, and it is very much my mistake. I am definitely thinking of libel.

I still think you are missing the point somewhat about why I "tattled" on this guy, or whether I should care how his company chooses to deal with him. But I think it is perhaps just a misunderstanding of motivation.

2. Well, so what? He's gone. It's in the past. He's been duly elected, TWICE,
by majority, integral votes. He was a good president and gosh, we miss his leadership. He was a great president.

But hey, let's divert attention from the idiot currently in the white house, and forget about the lies, cheating, stealing and WMDS and mass murder!

3. Gosh
Didn't anyone bother reading the poster's intro? lol

I remember a thread about the originator of this e-mail. A bunch of DUers suggeested they contact his employer since he was using company e-mail to distribute his pack of lies. Looks like it worked!

I hope they haven't canceled his acct though. He's been one of my favorite people to fwd mail to :)

thanks THX, for clearing it up. I guess people had to be here when it happened! LOL.. (hope I don't have any 'alerts' on me now!!)

Anyway, that guy (the email bandit) is probably having a pretty bad month.. has he ever responded to your forwards?

9. Well
Most of the forwards didn't have a valid return address. So replying would have been a frustrating experience for him. I have put a lot of care in assembling a wingnut spam list over the past year or so, maybe 200 people. Most of the names were harvested from people forwarding RW crap to me. So I figured I'd turn the tables. Once I set up a temp hotmail acct to guage reaction, it was pretty amusing. They were absolutely livid to receive something in their mailbox they disagreed with. Oh well, whats good for the goose...

10. that's great!
I am just a tad obsessive enough (no offense) to do the same thing. I can imagine all the angry emails you got in response to giving the freeps a taste of their own medicine.

It amazes me to see some of that crap. In general, you just don't see that kind of stuff from liberals. Don't get me wrong, I get email alerts all the time.. usually warnings about a piece of legislation, or somebody in the prez's administration, etc. But it usually has a call to action with a website link, etc.. and the info usually checks out.

This right wing stuff, though, is different. Always from some anonymous author, usually couched as some "story" with a moral or something.. I remember one, that was some nostalgic cutesy piece.. "remember when.."

"Remember when cokes were a nickel..going to the movies cost 50 cents.. we didn't watch TV, we went outside to have fun... we didn't have gay rights, or political correctness..." and bla bla it went on and on. After awhile you could see it was just a thinly-veiled conservative rant.

And then sometimes they are just outright slanderous, like the above piece about Clinton. It's shameful that people pass this stuff around.

So maybe I should start my own little spam list.

if you are going to send out political email from work, use a hotmail account.
