Does anyone know how the PA primaries work?
Both Democratic and Republican primaries are on April 27 but can I vote in both of them? I'm registered Democrat and want to send Dean delegates to Boston to influence Kerry's platform.

But I also strongly want liberal Democrat Joe Hoeffel to win a US Senate seat. I think he is running unopposed in the Dem primary but radical right-wing Pat Toomey is running against moderate flip-flopping Arlen Specter in the Rep primary. Joe will mop the floor with Toomey but will have trouble beating Specter. So I want Joe to run against Toomey in the general election so the Dems can retake the Senate.

So do you know if it is possible to vote in both primaries?

1. you sholud be able to find the answer here:
http://www.lwv.org/

It's the web sight of the league of women voters, and if the answer isn't there , you should be able to link to your state's rules from there.

2. No, PA is party only.
You can only vote in your party's primary. I'm considering switching to Republican for this primary so I can vote for Toomey. Kerry doesn't need our help here so we'd be best served trying to get Hoeffel in.

3. here's some more info :
"The most common method is the closed primary, where only registered party members can vote, as in Pennsylvania. "

I found that here:

4. thanks all
If you haven't registered to vote in the primary yet, you better hurry up. You can do it online from the DNC website. I'm just going to stay Democrat. I doubt Toomey can win anyway. I'm surprised he got his Congress seat!

7. Santorum won against Ron Klink because
Klink was a twit. A strong Democratic candidate can easily get rid of that mixture of lube and fecal matter.

8. i respectfully disagree....
he lost becauseethey wouldn't put one dime into Klink's campaign because he was supposed to be a guaranteed loser. He didn't lose by all that much for a guy who literally had no money.

5. Republicans are retarded
"If you are a Pennsylvania Democrat, delegate candidates will list on the ballot which candidate they are committed to supporting. If you are a Republican, the delegates are uncommitted and can support whomever they want. "
