10. Yer correct Mari333
Aren't ya getting a little tired of the worried little hand-wringers spewing their negativity?

People, we've work to do. The battle has been brought to our door, we must stand and fight! Hand-wringing and crying towels are not weapons! Positive words and emotions are.

20. They are being duped by the propoganda
This week we've seen a number of polls which seem to support the idea that Bush*'s standing concerning his fight against terrorism has been withstanding the criticisms leveled by Richard Clarke. There's a poll floating around that shows Bush* beats Kerry 52% to 47% over who is more trusted to protect the US from terrorism. This poll is being promoted as evidence that Clarke's attacks have had no effect. What the stories generally don't mention is that two months ago, Bush*'s numbers were at 70%. In the last two month, Bush* has lost 13% of his support on an issue that is supposedly his strongest selling point.

5. Another factor
More and more people have dropped their "land line" and now only have a mobile phone. And polling companies aren't allowed to call mobile numbers. When you factor in that someone who has gone mobile-only is a lot more likely to be educated & informed, this is a significant demographic that is not present in any normal phone polls.

8. Wow
I hadn't thought of that. That's a very interesting point. I wonder if we have any demographic evidence available that mobile-only phone customers are more politically progressive? Probably not, but it seems likely.

19. Yeah, hard to say if there is a correlation.
I can think of it cutting both ways - people with mobile phones tend to have more money, meaning they are more likely to be Republican. But a lot of informed Republicans have grown to hate the Bush* administration, too.

At any rate, it is a portion of the population that is not part of any "random" telephone poll. Without correcting for it, polls become even more useless than they already are.

Now that is funny. I know you truly believe that too

I think, The repubs have managed to pull the dems down to their level of fighting. Therefor the dems are trying to fight the repubs on the repubs turf and it aint worken for the dems.

The attacks on kerry are constant. Everytime I see the commercial about Kerry saying " I voted for the 87 million before I voted against it" I laugh. I sometimes start laughing before he says it.

Dems need to stick with what they are good at, like education, economy , health care. The only dem I know who can attack and kill are the clintons. No one is better than they are, not even the repubs. I am one of those believers who think Hillary wants to run in 2008 and that means they will do very little for Kerry. My father in law now lives in FLA he is a life time dem, but is refusing to vote for Kerry as he feels he is too liberal

11. He's been hurt- his NSC Adviser-Rice-is on the front line
When the head of the NSC has to publicly defend herself a president is in danger.

Look at all polls as they come out. Look at the increasing number of government types who are raising questions, and those who are not jumping to his support.

Every long-term congressperson and senator, every long-term upper-level governmental employee and appointee know who Richard Clarke is and what his job was.

Looking at it from the point of view of governmental insiders:--the person who was trusted to run the crisis management from inside the White House on 9/11 as the attack was underway, is saying that Bush and his administration would not listen to repeated credible warnings before 9/11 regarding terrorist threats the government knew would take place.

If someone of that stature had come forward publicly during the the Iran-Contra investigation and said he had evidence that George Bush Sr. was involved in the Iran Contra deals, it is possible that George Bush Sr. would have been indicted.

People in government know how big this is, even if all of the general public does not yet understand.

I don't mean to minimize the problem we face, or suggest it is going to be easy to get Bush and Cheney out of office--but they have been hurt.

15. 2/3 of respondents didn't think that Bush could have prevented
9/11. We know that's a bunch of crap.

The message is sinking in, drip by drip. The facts are on our side. Events are on our side. Bush has nothing but bad news facing him month after month from now to the election. Whether it be Plame, Medicare, Memogate, Energy Commission, the 9/11 anniversary could backfire in a big way, The Republican Convention will bring a sea of demonstrators. The D-Day anniversary will rekindle the AWOL issue.

It's a long way to Nov. the fact that a sitting incumbent is within the margin of error of less than 50% is damning.

18. Huh?
"2/3 of respondents didn't think that Bush could have prevented 9/11. We know that's a bunch of crap."

But didn't Clarke basically say that Bush probably couldn't have prevented 9-11?

If Clarke is saying 9-11 likely couldn't have been prevented, why would we expect the American public to think differently?

17. just making a point
I don't trust the Bush Crime Family, one of the dirtiest families in politics.
Also, I have seen too many people try and play nice with the Bushies
when they should have playing equally dirty for them.
The trouble with the polls, is that most people have no clue about the real dirty world of the BushCrimeFamily and will just believe what flashes as news on CNN

21. Media polls can not be trusted because
they have a vested interest in playing out a horse race.
Remember that the majority of campaign funds end up in the hands of these people. It is in their interests to pump up the volume.
Remember these facts:
#1 B* lost the last election
#2 There are no masses of voters that did not vote for * last time organizing in his support.
#3 There are masses of people who did not vote AGAINST * last time organizing to vote against him.
#4 There are many people who voted for * last time that are clearly not going to vote for him again.

will be turnout in the Twin Cities and inner suburbs and other DFL strongholds.

The Republicanites seem unenthusiastic about the Bushboy, and if I were a precinct captain, I would make sure that every DFLer and DFL-leaning person either got to the polls or mailed in an absentee ballot in plenty of time.

26. Bush "attracts" demonstrators all over this country...
...to say nothing of around the world. He's been kept very, very insulated and isolated. He almost never holds genuine press conferences.

No, he's going to sweat quite a lot in the next eight months, I would guess. Let's not let him get away with a single thing.

27. When will it start sinking in?
I'm hoping that Clarke's allegations will stick. I'm trying to be positive, but every time someone comes out with new information about this administration's lies and deceit (Joe Wilson, Paul O'Neil, various CIA agents and military officers, Richard Foster), it gets pushed to the back burner. I'm sick of the fawning media, and I'm angry with people who continue to support bushy even after the lies have been exposed.

Like my friend says, " The only thing that could possibly save W is the stupidity of the American people..."

Wake up people, that rose is starting to stink real bad.
