Question for gay and lesbian couples out there
With all the furor over 1-gay marriages and 2-the Pledge of Allegiance, I was just wondering if there are any gay and/or lesbian couples who support the insertion of the words "under God" in the Pledge? If so, that would really throw a monkey wrench into the bushco views on stuff. They might have a meltdown over the fact that gays actually support something that bushco does. There are certainly gays who believe in God out there, if not here at DU, then out in the rest of America. So if a person is religious, regardless of sexual orientation, they may want those two words left in the pledge.

1. I don't think so
The more that we in the gay community deny his policies, the better.

It's self-destructive in the long run to try and gain credibility from a politician like him.

2. possible, not probable
Certainly there are people of all faiths within the community, some of them quite active in working with their denominations to effect change. Dignity is a large group of gay Catholics, for example (although I point out that they are in no way sponsored or recognized by the Catholic church).

I just don't think this is an issue, period. With the community under assault by the right wing, staying alive is the first goal. I'd place this one way down at the bottom of the list.

3. No, I don't support it...
... but I'm sure you can find plenty of nearly-normal, God-fearing gay folk among the Log Cabin Republicans. <sarcasm alert> Of course, the LCRs have discovered that BushCo listens to them about as much as he does us.

4. Why do religious people want that left in the pledge?
It was added during the cold war to intimidate atheists. What's next, adding language to intimiate catholics? Gays? Non-baptists?
