WooHoo. Condi's testifying. Let's put together a list of dream-questions
and forward them to sympathetic committee members. To make things easy for them, let's
a) List the question
b) Describe the significance of the question in the larger context
c) Suggest likely answers she might make
d) Provide followup questions for each of the most likely answers

1. Does anyone else fear
that we may be throwing her into the briar patch?

3. yes and no
think Watergate and how Nixon tried to hide behind Executive Privilidge, here Condi really couldn't since this commision was set by the Executive... I see it more as Nixon loosing the battle as it were.

4. Yeah, oh Jeez--I just heard the conditions they're imposing.
Only Condi, only once, with a written sign-off that they won't ask anything more of anyone in the White House.

Super Bad Deal. I hope they don't buy into this.

I think that the idea of formulating some careful questions as I suggested above might have merit, though. We can circulate them as examples of what the WH doesn't want answered, if nothing else.

6. They already did.
They accepted all those terms. Ridiculous- if there's anything they want to follow up on, they can't. Great.

16. They who?
"they" who are accepting it are the same "they" who hand picked the "commission". "They" created the "Condi should not/should testify" dog and pony show. "They" are the Bush administration. You folks just amaze the shit out of me....sucked right in by Rove and his minions...hook line and sinker. Why anyone here would even acknowledge Bushlers Kangaroo 911 commission or anything related to it as relevant simply astounds me.

15. Interesting you should say that
I just composed another post...which addresses that exact subject...one which I'll not post now. And of course the answer is yes.

12. Would that be "traditional hijackings"? There's a difference ya know. The
prospect of only few hundred deaths is not worth taking the time to "shake the trees" in our intelligence community.

7. Try this one
The Question(s)

Sometime in April, the pResident asked you (Condi) for a plan to deal with Al Queda. You called Clarke and asked him to prepare a plan. He told you that the plan was "stuck" in the Deputies Committee. What did you do to get it out of committee? Why didn't you "bump" it to the Principals Committee? What did you tell the pResident?

The significance

Here we see how seriously both Condi and Dubya were about terror.

Her possible responses:

I told Clarke to get it out as fast as possible.
I told the pResident the plan was under construction.
I talked to the head of the deputies committee and told them to hurry up.

Follow-up Questions

How many times and when did you follow up to make sure the report was completed quickly?

How many times did the pResident follow-up on his request?

9. The August 6 briefing.
I have seen reference to the August 6, 2001 briefing alluded to on this website. What is suspected to be in that briefing that should be included in the questions?

10. The family of bin Laden
Edited on Tue Mar-30-04 12:21 PM by Virginian
Question:
Why was the bin Laden family given the luxury of a private flight out of the country while no other planes were allowed to fly?

Signuficance:
Even the McVeigh family had to answer questions posed by the FBI. These people were given very special treatment first, by flying and second, by not having to answer any questions. This suggests the president's loyalty to his foreign friends was greater than his loyalty to the American citizens.

Answer:
We were protecting them from the possibility of physical harm by angry citizens.

Follow up Question:
Then why were they not taken into protective custody until the FBI could question them? Now, with the help of the president, they are out of our jurisdiction. The FBI will never know what family members may have disavowed contact, but secretly aided Osama.

11. Seems like a mere 3 hours ago when Condi said "No Way!"
I just got back from dinner, and gee, what a difference 180 minutes and lots of public pressure can make.

What I don't get is, why all the bartering with 9-11 lives? Why not just tell the truth under oath? Why all the dickering simply to do that?

13. Dr Rice:
Are you aware of any effort by the State Department to discuss the potential of a pipeline with the Taliban through Afghanistan, prior to 9/11/01?

Are you aware of any effort to normalize relations with the Taliban in exchange for recognition and the handover of Bin Laden, prior to 9/11/01?

Are you aware of any effort undertaken by any branch of the government to threaten the Taliban with military action for denying proposals for an Afghan pipeline prior to 9/11?

Are you aware of any interst that your former company had in using Afghan territory for resource extraction projects, and did any of that interest come to your attention in your role as NSA?

Are you aware of the presence of Taliban oficials in Washington or Texas during the winter or spring months 2001?

Are you aware of any CIA visitation to Bin Laden's hospital in July 2001?

What's the "precedent" of strapping a polygraph on Dr. Rice during her testimony?
