9. When?
He was stumping in Sacramento and San Francisco the last two days. He was looking good on TV, by the way.

As for those poll numbers, it reminds me of a sleazy store that raises the prices of their goods just so they can slash them for the big sale. The Bush* numbers are on a downward trend. Bet on it.

7. This is the only poll with Bush's approval rating not under 50 percent
When every other poll has him at 46-49 percent, you have to wonder if this is an outlier. I wouldn't worry unless other polls confirm this upward blip in his approval.

8. Bush is counting on Rice to hit a home run
I believe The Bush gang is going on the Offensive and will attempt to appear totally Confident. The have told Rice to hit a home run like she did last year (when she lied about how they could not have known).

Part of winning is appearing confident but the fact that they need her to testify in public means they know they have been damaged with the public. (They also know they have a serious problem with washington insiders who will keep raising doubts).

They want Rice to win over the public and also generate positive spin on Fox and CNN and NBC so that insiders will be scared to cross them.

The other polls out are about where I would expect. I think CNN is the only one showing Bush over 51%.

Kerry has pretty much been absent-on vacation.

14. a perfect time for him
to be only partially seen. Time for him to mentally gear up, recharge, and set plans in place for what will be an intense and tiring 7 months. The bow that pulls back will shoot the arrow farther.
