Gas Tax Calculator

According to the new Bush ad, "If Kerry’s tax increase were law, the average family would pay $657 more a year" in gas taxes.

The Bush/Cheney web site offers a gas calculator to determine how much more YOU would pay. It calculates a yearly increase of $50.14 for me.

So who the hell would end up paying $657 more a year? One way I could arrive at that figure was to assume a family with a 2004 4WD Ford Expedition and a 2004 Cadillac Armored Deville each traveling 200 miles a week. Is this the average American family?

3. Well, according to the calculator, $650 a year

I drive a fuel economy car, however, their calculations are off and incorrect on the type of car I drive, therefore, their calculated increase is also off by a fudge factor of Bush's Best Wild Ass Guess

Oh well it is a come on and really pretty smart to put it up. Dem should put up how your pay has gone down in real money over the years and make the people put their figures in. Like Cost-of-living calculator AIER. That is really fun to play with

4. This is Bullsh*t

I drive a 1986 Volvo 240 wagon. Last week I drove from Blacksburg, Va in the SW to Arlington. Crystal city to be exact, across from National Airport. I got 30.5 MPG, and in Blacksburg, I get 25. For a 1990, the earliest year the bushevics would allow, they said it gets 22 mpg.

Total trip cost at the pump = $53.11
Est. Distance = 265.2 miles
Est. Time = 4 hours 33 minutes

Actual
Miles ok, I had a slightly different number.
8.74 gallons used
265.2/8.74 = 30.3 mpg

Cost at $1.779, $15.55

Translation: Bush is full of sh*t
