Looking at the
http://www.airamericaradio.com site, I see they have stations in
New York - WLIB 1190 AM
Los Angeles - KBLA 1580 AM
Chicago - WNTD 950 AM
Portland, OR- KPOJ 620 AM
Inland Empire, CA- KCAA 1050 AM
Minneapolis MN - WMNN 1330AM
as well as
XM Satellite Radio - Channel 167
I want to note that there has been a viewer-funded national radio network that has been around for many years, which has shows by Amy Goodman and other people, Pacifica
http://pacifica.org/stationsKPFA (94.1 FM in Berkeley),
KPFK (90.7 FM in Los Angeles),
KPFT (90.1 FM in Houston),
WBAI (99.5 FM in New York) and
WPFW (89.3 FM in Washington DC)
which also has some really great affiliate and associate stations
http://www.pacifica.org/stations/affiliatesI guess Pacifica and Air America compete in LA and in New York (where I live). I don't think this is a big deal - there are shows I like on WBAI (the local Pacifica station) and ones I don't care for as much, so it would only be a problem if I liked two shows at the same time. Then I guess it would depend on who had the better topic/guest/whatever.
Pacifica is pretty left-wing - one one visit to WBAI in New York, I saw they had two computers in a room, one called Shehu and the other Hoxha. It will be interesting to see how Air America affects Pacifica (and vice versa).
