They showed the bodies of the dead Americans in Somalia, but
today the media is being tasteful and not displaying them. Hard to guess the difference in editorial decisions in coverage of the two similar events.

1. Because bu$h has his hand in the corporate media who are responsible for
his popularity. If Gore or the Big Dog had been in the WH they'd be showing it in full.

8. Where did you see it?
I had an aljazeera (sp?) link but the video there didn't even show anything, which was surprising.

10. I saw it on Yahoo it was an AP feed....first of all
They shouldn't show it.
It showed the bodies burned beyond recognition
being beaten
parts being dragged through the streets behinda car
then hung.

They shouldn't show it. But people need to see it.

IT is BAD.... but the reactions to it won't be that Bush did wrong it will be that Bush was right, liberals cant stomach the fight and the Iraqis are animals.

12. Comcast.net was/is has a very graphic video with their story
It's on the comcast home page, it's part of their feature called "The Fan". I am not sure, but I think you may have to be a subscriber to see it.

13. I just checked...they have different video now.
It was close to what ABC just showed. Only the bodies weren't blurred out.

5. Gee, why not????
I don't understand. We paid good money for "shock and awe"!!

The Passion is a big hit.

Texas Chain Saw Massacre is coming out with a number 4 or so release.

What's up with this feckless news media of ours.

We paid for the blood and guts with our hard earned tax money. Now we should DEMAND to be able to see it!!! And none of this censoring out the good parts either.

Damnit, I'm an Murkin and I want to see what I bought!!!!

6. Over and over and over and over ...
we saw that poor soldier dragged in the streets of Mogadishu. Now that we have a republican war, I guess that type of coverage is off-limits. Funny how the standards change, isn't it? I pity the dead, but America needs to see what Bush's lies have wrought.

9. I heard sufficiently vivid descriptions from all the networks....

...even Fox. I don't think we need to see it played over and over. We know what happened. And if anyone really wants to see the pictures all they have to do is go to the Internet.

17. The corporate media said "contractors" who were helping to rebuild Iraq.
Edited on Wed Mar-31-04 11:06 PM by oasis
Intentionally giving the impression that they were involved in construction. :eyes:

I do have sympathy for them and their families for what they have to go through.

18. Show some consideration for...
the families of the dead. Whether you like the fact we're there or not, or what the civilians were doing there, they were Americans, and they didn't deserve to die like that. And their bodies don't need to be shown on tv. Somalia disgusted me, as do the pictures running wild on the web and tv tonight. It serves no purpose whatsoever.

Wives are without husbands, and children are without fathers tonight. Skip the holier than thou morality of who those men were and what they might have been doing or not doing as contractors, and instead of showing some compasiion for the murdering bastards that did this, how about a prayer or comforting thought for the widows and orphans?

They have a road that's going to be just a little tougher, knowing Daddy won't be coming home. Oh, and by the way, just go to Yahoo and you can see what's left of him hanging from a bridge in Fallujah.
