Need some help with a Freeper
Had a conversation on another message board with one of those who tunes into OxyRush without fail for the entire show. He was prattling on about outsourcing being good for the country, typical rePug talking points. The one that he mentioned that I had no info on was the following:

>>>We're becoming a nation that flips hamburgers. And there are fewer and few who can afford to buy them anymore.

I wish you had listened to Walter E. Williams today as he just cited the stats to disprove the above. He also gave teh stats to prove that presently in the US their are 6 jobs insoursed for every job outsoursed to a foreign country.

Anyone point me to some documentation that says otherwise?

8. Freepers are the denizens of freerepublic.com
Think Grinch without the happy ending. The highway of evolution throughout history has had many exits that led ultimately to dead-ends.
Freepers are the only known instance of evolution making a complete U-turn and heading back to the Dark Ages.
Nice to meet you, AZDemDist6! :hi:

4. 6 jobs insoursed for every job outsoursed
False logic.

If every job outsourced required the creation of 6 insourced jobs, then outsourcing would COST money.

Or, if he meant that 1 of 7 jobs is outsourced, wouldn't it be nice to have those millions of job being done by our unemployed Americans?

5. Just ask the Freeper how his point contradicts yours
Ask him for a specific contradiction of your point that jobs are declining. Also, ask him why unemployment is INCREASING and real wages have declined since Bush took office.

Finally, ask him if he thinks that it's OK that 14.3% (1/7) of American jobs are outsourced -- using his OWN number. Ask him why he thinks it's OK to send 14.3% of our high-paying jobs off-shore.

6. DON'T TOUCH THAT ARGUMENT - HERE'S WHY
Companies who insource have created jobs in this country because we have given these foreign corporations ACCESS to our 8 trillion dollar consumer driven economy.

It's the price Toyota has to pay for being able to sell to Americans. they have some plants here as well as sales offices, etc.

That cannot be compared to taking jobs from Americans and sending them to India so that the PRODUCT (whatever it is, including phone sales) can come back to America.

Does anyone really think that Toyota would be in the U.S. if we didn't give them access to our consumers?

7. Get him to point you to the documents that prove it!
He can't, because they don't exist. It's pure freeper fantasy. Walter E. Williams is a right wing loony.

You could go to BLS.GOV and snoop around, you might find something relevant.

Look at the manufacturing employment data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. It shows 17,093,000 manufacturing jobs in January of 2001. It also shows 14,310,000 manufacturing jobs in March of 2004. So, we've lost nearly 3 million manufacturing jobs since Shrub got selected. Those were either lost to foreign competition or outsourced by U.S. companies.

Based on that, we know a number of manufacturing jobs have been outsourced. Where are the 6 insourced jobs? Since non-manufacturing employment has been flat over that time, there certainly couldn't have been 6 jobs created for every manufacturing job outsourced. William's point is just weakly spun baloney.

10. Walter Williams is a hack economist paid by a conservative thinktank.
He's a joke. If there are so many jobs being "insourced" then why the f@ck is unemployment rate rising and more and more people working in crappy jobs?
